I am seriously considering going, but I don't know the numbers to the ranch and who to contact. This would be my first time hunting the ranchand I don't know if my little S-10 two wheel drive would be able to handle the terrain especially since the area should have some wetter conditions it should have by then.
Hey Waldo,
The Ph # is 661 663 4288 ask for Barbara Boeck or email at bbb@ frazmtn.com. As far as your two wheel drive even if it is raining there will be places you can get that hold hogs. The main roads on the ranch are maintained fairly good. You might have to hike a little. I've been a couple times I have a 4 wd bronco but I don't think I had to put in 4wheel except in the snow.

Hey Hoghunter,
Could you explain the differences in the three areas as far as terrain and habitat is concerned? What area would you recomend for a first timer? Thanks, all opinions welcome.
Can't make the Jan/Feb hunt. I'm sure you guys will have a blast. I'm not familiar with the North or Desert sides. I have only hunted the South Ranch. On the south side, you definitely need 4x4 to get to the most productive areas.
Hey Fishhunter,
Theres a little of everything in all 3 sides .The south side entry is at Lebec, it is probably more steep to rolling hills with steep ravines it does have some flats. The north side where most productive is steep cayons and hills but you can find pigs in easier terrain sometimes. The desert side more of the same except if you can catch the pigs in the flats towards Palmdale the ravines out there have water in them and do hold pigs sometimes. There is a long and steeeeep canyon that very few people will hunt .The sides are pretty steep with alot brush it's probably 400 to 500 ft. deep at the bottom about 100 yds. wide in most of it. If you decide to go let me now which area I'll try to point you in the right direction.

Hoghunter,
Thank you that's a very kind offer, I will be in touch. I am looking at the March or April dates. A buddy and I will be comming from Boise, Idaho for our first pig hunt. I am from Orange Co. originally, but left years ago before I became a big game hunter. Needless to say, I am looking forward to hunting the chapperal country I was familiar with when I was a kid.
I'd like to extend the same offer to you if you ever plan a hunt in Idaho.
Myself and a buddy from So. Ca are booked already for the Tejon POR March 14, 15, & 16 (the new dates). Interested in hooking up with some JHPers at the southern entrance. Not sure if we'll camp, it depends on the weather. We're looking forward to hunting the ranch in the beautiful early spring. Should be quite a sight.
Hoghunter: I didn't mean to step on your post. I apologize. I was considering the Jan/Feb hunt, but something came up. I wish you luck and success on tour hunt.
No quads allowed Brian. Bring a buddy and lots of rope. Russman had the misfortune of being around when Speckmisser, his brother and I shot our pigs. Good for us...bad for him
Looks like we are in and going to the North. Been up to Tejon once before and hunted the South. Can anyone fill me in on what it is like on the North?
The Rifenbark clan will be Rick, Neil, Ricky, Jack and Neil Jr. Will there be a JHP campfire on the North side somewhere?
nrifenbark
I dont know how many JHP'ers are going . I'll be there on the North side.
Be in a white crewcab ford. There is alot of good area. You can check out south east of reservoir #2 theres some good canyons that are'nt to bad to hunt. Also to the west is Winters ridge with some good spots.that will give you some places to start if we run into each other I'll tell you what I've seen.

I would love to go on Pig O Rama how do I do this is it to late for the Jan 31st and if so when is the next one and, one more thing i have a 2 whl drive Xterra will that work
Some of the guys cancelled out of our guided hunt due to family tragedies and roofs blowing in the wind. Then I read about Yotegetters poorly guided hunt by the same guide we were booked with. So, the clan took a vote and we will be hunting the north side at the Jan Pig-o-rama. We'll driving up in a white Jeep cherokee and a blue cherokee(newer models). Hope to see some of you up there.
