Ok Beastslayer, if we don't hear the real story of your hunt, we will be forced to assume that you were injured, not by a vehicular accident, but rather during a drunken campfire recitement of the movie Deliverance, with you playing the Ned Beatty character.

Coues,

I have to apologize to you and everybody. I might not be able to continue the saga from yesterday. My ultra-liberal lawyer was telling me it was potentially libelous (to Speckmisser), racist (to Jagermeister and Powerman), anti-Semite (not sure, I sure Kosher salt), sexist (must be the way I called the sow or the fact that there was no woman in the camp), politically-incorrect (writing hunting activities in masculine terms), etc.

When he edited it, the only thing I can write is:

"...the porcine (pig is not allowed as it may be construed as referring to personalities of the JHOers or hunters in JHO POR going without shower for two days) of unknown gender died of massive heart failure (of course, the top part of the heart vaporized -- I can't put this also)...

See? You don't want to be reading that kind of edited stuff. We all want the boom, the bangs, the blood and the gore.

He is suggesting a waiver from all JHOers, but that's too much trouble.

Well I'm finaly home
<
I will post up a few pics but there are a few things I have to take care of first like build a fire man is it cold here (40 degrees as I write), Then I am going to the doc and getting a shot of cortizone in my ankle who ever knew going up a hill would be as bad as going down, lets see tumble, tumble, hop, hop, walk, tumble, tumble, hop, hop, walk. Between looking for Rattlers and dodging holes it was killer. Tejon is some of the most beautiful contry I have ever been on. Now I know what all the buzz is about when you guys speak of the ranch
<
I didn't get a pig but I wasn't there just to get a hogin the first place. Well first off I would like to thank Dave (Superduty), his Dad, and Shawn for having me. These guys treated me like a King (not Rodney) for a while I thought I was on a guilded hunt and had the urge to tip them
<
No better folks to share camp with than you guys, hope to return the favor up this way sooner than later. Speck thanks for putting this together your one cool hombre
<
Jesse, dude I won't have to buy a t-shirt or mug for years. I was a walking JHO billboard going through LAX yesterday. It was awsome to finaly get to meet you . Brent (Onetrack) thanks for extending your home to me and my family, my girls are still asking when we are going see your girls again. Bob (oneclearshot) I am forever in your debt on the park tickets the girls had a blast on the behind the scenes tour...I was great to meet all the fellow JHOers that I have been posting with for so long. I can't wait till next year...

Huh?? What?? Coues, and others including myself, just wanted to know what happened and how you got hurt. Your story makes little sense to an outsider. Just curious.

[attachment=30117:attachment]SDHNTR,
Beastslayer posted the real story earlier in this thread (post # 13)it's in there. Proves that you never know what's going to happen to you out in the field.
Way to stick it out Beastslayer, you looked like it hurt to move, talk smile, but you still got a nice hog.

Powerman,

Nice to hear from you again. Worried of your absence in the forum the past days. Working your ass off or making up for lost time with the girlfriend?

Thanks for the support in my stories -- already in 2 versions. Now I am beginning to believe it myself (lol).

Best regards bro. Enjoy the fruit of your harvest but go easy on the 'ol cholesterol (oops, sorry guys for mentioning some bad words).

Despite my foolishness in the write-up, I was really thrilled to see you three guys at the skinning pole when I got back to camp Sunday night. I will admit that I was pretty disappointed in my own lack of success, but to see you guys (especially the grin on OZ's face!) tag out really did ease the sting![/b]

I suppose it helps to have scored EVERY other P.O.R. you went to, but I could tell that you were happier for us to get hogs than you would possibly have been for yourself.
<
Your continuous support and motivation over the weekend made the trip a real pleasure! I can not wait for next year! We will not buy pork at my house any more, that's for sure.

It looks like the pigs are eating so well with all the greeneries that their bodies are wrapped with a thick coat of fat. Those are very healthy looking pigs. Hey!!! What about Spectr17???? Did Spectr17 kill a piggie????
A bunch of wonner'ful stories. Thanks for the stories guys. It seems there are more and more pigs each year at Tejon from the drift of the stories. WOW!!!! What a loaded and teeming with piggies working ranch. Amazing place!!!! 'Nuff said.

TRA - Bow is allowed, of course, even though my buddy Travis (Undertaker) kept a Bow in the truck in case he got a chance for a good stalk, most of the shots are at moving Hogs at a distance... Much more conducive to Rifle/Handgun hunting.

Tra,

There are good opportunities there for archery hunting, but no one did it on this trip. Several of the hot spots I looked at this year simply begged to be hunted with bow, muzzleloader, or pistol. If I had more than a single weekend to hunt, I'd like to slip in there and take a hog with the bow or with the Hawken.

Tejon will be starting a new archery-only hunt this year (actually, re-starting an old hunt).

Stay tuned for more info on that one, as we'll probably be coordinating something for the JHO archers as soon as it gets properly underway.
It'll be a smaller hunt on a different area of the ranch, but you won't be competing with rifle hunters, and the terrain is a little more suited for bowhunting.

I stalked a sleeping hog and had it in bow / handgun range. Others on this trip shot from very short distances.

The hunt isn't cheap for a self guided event, so I think people want to maximize their chances to come home with pork. Otherwise I am sure that you'd see more folks using primitive weapons. If you are an avid archer, it makes good sense to try at Tejon!
