1-2 tags out of 7-8 not filled? I'm betting that was because the hunters couldn't shoot or expect to a shot like what they see on the outdoor channel.

I shot a sow yesterday at about 6:30. I haven't seen much after about 7am the last few times I've been. Interesting thing is I've been hearing a lot of shots lately. Like 6-7 shots at a time, or even more. Either someone can't shoot, or like you said, they are shooting whole groups of them. Although yesterday after packing out my pig,I went down to the main road and saw a couple trucks with hunters shooting at some rocks off the main road. looked like one of the ranch trucks too, so maybe hunters checking their rifles after missing earlier in the morning? Might be a mixture of both theories. On another note, the grass grew a bit more since that last rain. I was knee to waist high in it in many places. Looks like this last week was pretty good, saw a few tags filled out on south and north side, more than I've seen the weeks prior.

I saw two on the south side, plus mine 3 (thats a few, right?) then I saw 2 on the north side at about 11am on sunday. not sure how he would've only seen one, there were two laying right next to the sign in sheet. hmmmmmmmmmmmm
and as I was leaving some guys were just coming back (white denali truck) and said they got one the night before. so I don't know if they had left their tag in the box yet since they were still hunting. so maybe 3 on the north side?

....and those were the ones just laying out. I didn't go thru the pile of permits to see if there were more. just saying more than I've seen in weeks prior. and from what I can recall pretty much in line with what you would see in previous years. I don't ever remember seeing a pile of filled out tags each week.

ok i'm done with the tejon gossip, feels lame. i'm packing my bags for 3 weeks on the AK penninsula :) Look forward to seeing your post of the hunt when I get back.

bigolbuck, good luck on your hunt. take pics of the lodge inside and out. I've only stayed in the smaller cabins, so it would be cool to see the fancy one. hope you guys get your pigs. either way, the ranch is an amazing place and you'll have a blast.

my point was this...im up there twice a week and have seen a serious decline in hogs and especially sows with babies!!!
and all you folk that are rarely if ever there say u have been seeing tons of hogs...
the ranch has an average of 60-100 people a week hunting hogs and u saw what 6 tags? damn thats a pretty good average!!!!

your so right bobby im done....with posting on jesses... (no offense jesse, and u are always welcome to pm for a hunt!)

good luck on your hunt, take a camera there are bobcats and elk everywhere!

done!

eh the downside of online interaction I think. I think proper portrayal of voice inflection would diffuse a lot of situations on here. I doubt anyone meant to offend anyone but everyone entitled to speak their mind.

Good luck on your hunt bigolbuck! I saw a couple other people post recent kills so hopefully you can join their ranks as well. You're also going to need to share how you get invited on paid for hunts lol

100 % success! All tags filled. All meat pigs. Only saw a few large boars far away. My two older brothers each shot pigs between 160-175 pounds (Sows) and my pig was about 140 pounds. Fun hunt, hot weather and great guides. Mike and Codey are real nice down to earth people. Unfortunantly, the camp cook was ill, so the guides had to cook for us. They made us outstanding meals. Deer are abondant. We saw a bobcat and a few elk. Those pigs are tough as hell. One of the pigs took three shots to slow her down. One shot was right in the pocket! The other two were gut and rib shots. surprisingly very little meat was waisted.
I really enjoyed it all. lots of scenery lots of pictures. Ill try to post pictures later when I get all the pictures together.

Yeh buddy! Let me be the first to really congratulate u Bigolbuck and your brothers. Can't wait to see photos and hear more about your successful Tejon Ranch Expierance, and now in the future when someone else ask about the Tejon Ranch Expierance I am sure u will give them positive insight instead of a negative one. Good for u bro!. Are u sure u are not making this up because the word is ( the guides are not filling tags!!!!! )....lol...tra

Come on Gator J, you know the only pigs up there get shot by the guys that go every week and know the ranch better than all the rest of members here. Oh and of cores you can believe everything the guides say. They would never tell a bs story to any of us. :stir pot:

Pictures or it didn't happen. lol

Hello all, this is Bigolbuck's brother. Here are the pics. It was an excellent hunt. The folks at Tejon do a great job. We told them we were interested in quality meat pigs, and they put us on them. I wanted a hunt where all three of us were part of each hunt. This made for a greater challenge for our guide. Had we been looking for 200lb+ boars, the results could have been different. But, that is always the case when meat hunting vs trophy hunting. The care they take in handling the meat is exceptional. It was only the second time in my hunting life that I have had someone else field dress and skin my game. I like all aspects of the hunt, but this was a nice treat!
Bigolbuck's hog is the one also including the vertical hanging photo.

NVbuck (yes, my tag cost a lot more than my brothers'!!!)
