OK, so I just got my confirmation from Maddi that my dad and I are confirmed for the Pig-O-rama hunt on Feb 4th thru the 6th. Is there anyone else going up that same weekend? if so, I drive a four door white silverado, towing a 27 foot white trailer and we ride the red lifted samurai out for pigs with a 3000 foot spool of pull rope on the back. It's hard to miss me, so if you're gonna be up there, stop me and say hi.
Thanks,
btrebil

Thanks for the votes of confidence, well, hopefully there will be some other members there so I can continue to expand my contact list of other hunters. I'll let you all know how it goes...

Well, here we are week of the hunt, took the rifle with me this past weekend quail hunting to make sure it was still sighted in, good on that end. Got the trailer all loaded up, got the roll cage in the sami with the rifle holders and retrieval spool, so now I am set to get a pig. I will get some pictures up here shortly.

I'll be there, we'll be in the other 4 door silverado with 300 ft spool of rope on the back. Roads should be nice and dry this year, we hunt the same weekend every year. Last year was nothing but mud. Good hunting.

Didn't I meet you three years back up there? Did you and a buddy have a birch silver silverado? Either way, I would be ablidged to shake your hand at check in.
Take care,

StudmanBri,
I thought it was you, yes it was me and my dad from AZ. Well, it gonna be me and my dad heading up again. This time hopefully we won't get stuck off the side of a cliff like we did last time. It took us almost the entire day on Sunday last time to get my truck out from going over the cliff. Now I have my roided out sami to take off road, so I don't care what happens, that damn thing can get out of anything. Well, we will see you at check in, Take care and good luck.

So the weekend was the best weather and best driving conditions that I have ever experienced on Tejon ranch. The only downfall was the hunt was over so quickly for me. After check in we got the camp set up and we were off to go hunt by noon. So my dad and I went down a canyon and came back up the other side with the sami, then we got out and hiked. We only did a little 1 mile hike and came back to the sami. As soon as we were taking off out gear I spotted about 20 hogs on the next ridge over across a big canyon. The shot was ranged at 492 yards. I have the new bdc by nikon on my 300 weatherby. So I decided to put it to the test. I got all set up in the prone position and had my dad call out my yardage and windage so I could adjust. boom the shot goes off, then we watch the hog drop in it's tracks and then we heard the thwap of the bullet hitting the hog. My dad so was so impressed by the shot and I felt pretty proud. So then we drove around to go pick up the 110 lb beast (on the hoof). AFter we got to the weigh in, it weighed out at 77 lbs after gutting. The shot went straight through the heart. I will get some picks up later today, but that was a hell of a hunt for the 2 hours that mine lasted.

The next morning we went back to the same area for my dad's turn. He missed a 250 yard shot at a nice 200 lb boar, but then when we were leaving the area he got a little 70 lb pig at 50 yards and took that one down. So we packed up and were home on saturday by 4 pm. Short hunt, but both of us got our pigs with plenty of time to watch the super bowl. I love tejon ranch.

The last photo is from the pig looking out to where I shot from, you can see the far road going up the last ridge, that was where I was parked and shot from.

I got one to, last day. Her eyes popped out of her head from cartwheeling down 400 yards of Tejon hill. Landed on the road though. Recognize the road Brett?

I got mine butchered in Bakersfield, it weighed 60 pounds when I checked it in, and I got 55 pounds of meat back. Bone in roasts, pork chops, a little ham, and a little sausage. I'll be chewing on some this weekend! Makes some dynamite Wild Pork and Beans, Mongo Loves them...!

Bri,
I know where that is... Can't let out our spots, keep them between me and you. Congrats, did anyone else in your group get one? How big did yours weight in at?
I guess the guy camped beside us, got the big pig, his sow weighed in at 215. Can't wait till the next time. You guys ever think of going up to Fort hunter liggett? We should plan a trip up there.

Take care,
Brett
