Just sent off the check. First time ranch newbie so excited to say the least. Went with the south side as i know no difference between the two other than entrance difference. Taken the bow and rifle, setup if i get into pigs will tell the tale. Will be going solo . Any info is better than nothing , but was wondering about if i need a map of if they provide one with ranch roads. Anybody going? feb 1-3

they will give you a little map. You don't need to know a spot or have any insider info. The pigs are everywhere. get high and glass, you will see them. I'll be there. Can't miss me - big brown 78 chevy. There will be plenty of guys to BS with at check-in. The best advise I can give you is that if it is going to be wet, bring tire chains.

Good Luck Pierpont Scott, we should get together, I live in Ventura too, always looking for someone to go hunting with. I'm headed up to Tejon in March to hunt the North Side. Good luck!

I'm going to the the north side of the ranch this weekend for a semi-guided archery only hunt. I'll let you know how that goes - for what its worth.

Don't go to the old check in spot anymore, If you are hunting the south side, check in and entry are at the same location. As for places to go, that will depend on what your driving, have a good 4 wheel drive, with chains and lockers and you can get pretty much anywhere.

pierpont scott, definitely get some chains, with as much weather that we have had the roads will be sloppy and any spot that is in the shade will always be wet and slick. As for the hunting, there was a ton of pigs when we were there in Dec, but I didn't get to spend much time on the ranch, only hunted for 15 minutes before my partner and I shot ours, so we were done early.

dont think about chains get them, and take plenty of rubber bands to get them on niice and tight. Make sure you have the required items in your truck as well shovel, fire extinguisher, blanket and so on it is mandatory. Like everyone else said get high and glass and get off the roads and hike you will run into them good luck and enjoy

Squirrel Canyon North toward Bakersfield hunt on the East side of the road toward the power lines. I have taken many hogs there. There are some roads that will take you east toward the canyon. I would rather walk. I have always seen hogs there. My friend hunted in the December hunt and he said that the large majority of hogs were taken toward Lake Tejon and near the desert side.
Good Luck

i killed one on the desert side last weekend, my partner killed his in the bakersfield side. I almost killed a second with my truck. One of the guys killed one a couple hundred yards from the check in building on the second day. good hunt.
