Tejon is guided or pay-to-play only. Not the kind of place you can just go ask permission. Maybe you know that already, but if you didn't... you do now.

The website Bearclaw posted has the most current info on their hog hunts. The guided hunts are pretty steep, and while they're definitely quality hunts, they're a bit outside the reach of many "average" hog hunters. There are many more affordable guided hunts available in Central CA.

Unless you're in a hurry to get out there, they'll start doing the Pig O Rama hunts in December. These are "public" hunts, unguided, much more reasonably priced. $400 for 2.5days of hunting is a pretty good deal, and you have good opportunities for hogs.

As a note... JHO is holding our fourth annual JHO POR in May of 2007. It's another great opportunity for a quality hunt and to meet some great folks from this forum.

if you mean the big bear mountains, i'm not so sure there are hogs there.

there are pigs definitely. but they are the two-legged kind who can't read nor understand the sign that says no off-road or motorcyle outside the road, etc.

I don't know if you would find any pigs in that area. There are some down around closer to the lake. I have hunted that area many times and pigs are HARD to find. Some places you may want to try are Secata Ridge, or along Big Creek. In the spring I was going up there almost every weekend trying new spots. I saw evidence pigs were there at one time, but I never did see one. From what I've heard your best chance is hunting the other side of the lake via a boat. As much as I spent on gas with all those trips up there, I probably could have paid for a trip to Tejon. Something to think about.

Thats awesome jph5413. I'm the same way. I figured out long ago that I could just save up and pay for a guided hunt, but I havn't. I keep going up to Pine Flat or over to Coalinga looking for pigs, because I just love to hunt. One day all the hard work will pay off and it will be that much more rewarding! Not that I think there is anthything wrong paying for a hunt, by the way.Good luck wherever you decide to go.

I've been to pine flats about 5 times in last 20+ years and only connected once. They were coming from the steep ridge(I don't know the name of that ridge). I was hunting bear in the forest around month of November and December and saw their sign around north east end of the reservoir nearby the creek and got connected. I have to open up the map to give you exact point if you're interested.
