Can anyone on here answer why the Southside is closed this year and you can only hunt the North. I have friends asking and figured I might get a good answer here.

South was leased to a private club after last year's December Pig Management Hunt. Off limit to Tejon Spring and Fall members, and all Pig Management hunts. Not sure how long the lease contract will be, but not counting on it becoming a Management Hunt again. North side has a few good spots but it might be hard to get to with snow and wet roads. I would only go in dry weather.

well if you really could get 10 pigs out of the deal. The would have to be $600 hunts all 10 times to equal the 6k you pay to get on. and lets see.... 21.86 for each tag. That's a extra $218.60 just on tags. I would need gas and food and ammo. Sounds like not a good deal at all. Its kind of almost funny that rich guys would even blow there money like that. But hell some one buys the $20k elk tags each year. Guess there are suckers in ever hobby. Oh and sharks waiting to take the money. lol

ps. what a rip off that cali wants $21.86 per tag. What happened to a book of 5 for $10??? j/k I know those days have been long gone.

Wont be long before they are paying the hunters to kill pigs, just like in others states. silly people that run DFG or whatever they call them self's now.

Both are equally productive.

So about how many acres is the North section? I just feel like, myself personally, that raising the price for access yet cutting the area in half is pretty sh@%$y of them. I'm not completely familiar with the subject but that's what it seems to boil down to to me. I dont know

the south side is equally as good as the north, only major difference is the elevation, and ability to access hunting spots due to poor roads.
and it isnt closed to spring or fall members! u just have to pony up the $6000 + to get that side as well...
I agree that the price is crazy high, but im up every single friday and book several hunts a year with a big group of guys up there as part of my membership including the cabin!!!
so where in so cal can u drive 45 mins be hunting hogs any day u wish???
my freakin duck club dues were more than tejon.... and for what maybe 5-6 trips up to los banos for a sat/sun hunt not accntin for the 3.5 hrs there and 3.5hrs back every trip!
pretty simple to me boys.
and what are the pig o ramas now $500?? for what a 20% chance at a hog???
ill take your $500 take u on guest pass and get you a hog every day of the week!!! crZy!!!

I forgot to add something to my post. The only way to make it worth the 6k for the regular Joe hunter. By that I am saying with out deep pockets and money to burn. You would just need to charge people to use your guest pass. I have read about that a few times. So maybe we just need to team up and buy a membership in a trusted guys name. (like L2H) and than we just chop up the bill and passes. Kind of like a time share. Only thing is the member will have to on all hunts. I have been told in the past that guest cant hunt. But I am sure rules change or people just bend the rules were needed. So what do yall think? Maybe JHO needs a group membership. :hog chewing: :shootin-rifle:

My advice would be to either do a guided hunt or join the spring or fall on the North side if you do not have any friends that are members of the South Side.

Kcravnit is correct that it is worth every penny. I am not rich by any means but have been a member up there for quite a while.

My cousin and I just spent this weekend up there with our 8 year old daughters. the quality time with family is worth every penny.
We saw maybe 2 other groups of hunter on saturday and nobody on Sunday.

We saw everything from deer and pigs to Bears and a mountain Lion, the girls got to play in the snow and it was a blast. we had a nice hog walk right behind the cabin, had deer feeding all around us. Ate Tri-Tip and Lobster for dinner. and I was home in an hour and a half Sunday evening...

We didn't shoot any pigs but not for lack of opportunities, I have told many people that the best part about Tejon is you can shoot a pig with any method you choose.

want to shoot one with a bow - I can put you in a Canyon that has a swine why
want to shoot one with pistol or muzzleloader - I can put you in a great spot that they will feed towards you in the open
want to drive around and find a herd to stalk - you should bring a camera...

the place is amazing!

Not quite sure how many acres is the north side but it took me 1.5 hours of off road driving from the campsite to my hunting spot. Half mile out of camp is all hunting grounds from there. And that covers only about 1/4 of the area.

its not about being rich. its about priorities. people who scoff at paying $6000 for this membership probably would not think twice about dropping more than this into a truck or an ATV or something else. stop thinking someone who drops "big" money on hunting is automatically loaded. some might be, but some aren't.

OK, cut the bull, anyone who hunts here on a regular basis knows the South side is easier and more successful than the North side. Thats why the new contract was for the South side, and people would pay more to hunt that side. I Would......but can't afford it!

KTKT70 you are so ignorant!!!! there isnt a single member in his right mind that wld take someone with your attitude up hunting on the ranch!
This is exactly why I (yes guys he is referring to me in regards to the guest pass) told him to go pound sand... offered to use one of my limited number of guest passes and one of my $250 pig tags to take him and his dad out for a couple of hogs... for $400. not including my gas and time as a nice gesture... too bad for you... that opportunity has long sailed, it must be my deep pockets... what a joke, i have seen most of u guys up there and last time i checked those werent $100,000 range rovers your drivin!
But you know what guys he has gotten me thinkin... That $40,000 rubicon i just bought... hmmm how many pig hunts wld it take....
i take guys out all the time onto the ranch, if interested pm me...

pierpoint scott call me tom bro, well meet At the gate...
