Been thinking about getting the spring access for next year, But I just wanted to clarify how it works and hear from guys that have done it.
I buy access for myself for $900, then add the family option for $400. This does not include any pig hunting though, and I have to add that for another $450 per pig with a limit of 2. There does not seem to be the option for spring turkey either (not that I would pay $1400 for a turkey though)
Just want to make sure I'm reading this correctly.
Seems if I just wanted a pig I could skip the access and just do a pig hunt for $450.
Hard to justify paying $900 to hunt coyotes and ground squirrels. But I guess it would be a nice place to just camp with the family etc.

If all you are after is killing a hog, you are better off going with a guided hunt. At the ham slams you only look at a 50% chance of success, making it a $900 hog on average. A decent guide can still be had for $500 with virtually 100% chance of going home with pork chops.

If you want to enjoy Tejon, share the experience with your faimly and friends, train your hunting dog, go fishing with your kids, target shoot, hunt and camp away from yahoos, save on gas because it is an hour away, see lots of great game animals and not be bothered by public land yahoos, then the place may be for you. ;)

That's just my two cents.

What Jagermeister said. I bought the spring access for the first time this year and could not be more glad i did. To be able to take off and hunt when you want, and hunt productive country with no BS to deal with, is priceless.

This is my first time as a spring member with the varmint membership and I cannot speak highly enough of what Tejon has to offer. Absolutely it's worth every penny and more. The piece of mind, the proximity to where I live, friendly members, incredibly beautiful areas to camp, shoot, hunt and more. I waited 27 years to put this on my bucket list and what I would say now is I waited 27 years too long. Do it now! You will not regret it. I love to camp and even though I only have the individual membership I've met very friendly members. Ground squirrels just about everywhere you go. Whatever you're looking for, it's there and more. Ask Jesse what he thinks of Tejon.

The Tejon spring permit was so sweet when it included one free pig and the following pigs went down in price after each one. That and they had an unguided turkey tag for $400 for pure Merriam's turkeys there. I think it's still a great place to hunt and just hang out, fishing, hiking or taking pics. The pros are it's close to LA & fairly close for San Diego. Most pig hunts are way up the coast or central valley, 4 or 5 hours for me. That's half a day up and another half day back. I can be at Tejon in 1 hour from work or 2 hours from home. From talking to those who are involved in the development there on our last hog hunt 10 years is the guesstimate before the home start going in so you've got that time to see Tejon as it is now, pretty much unspoiled. Once the golf courses and homes go in it's not going to be the same.

And for you nature lovers, where else can you film those famous condors in all their glory?

I'll be getting a spring permit next year. From what I was told they sold out the spring permits this year and from all the campers left in Bear Trap at our hog hunt it looks like they are running full for the spring. Better get in early is the word when they send out the permit apps.

This is my second year with the Spring Membership. It's a great deal, especially if you're close. I shot my hog two nights ago, now it's time to focus on some coyotes and squirrels.

As far as I know, yes you can bring your dog. You cannot run the dog on pigs though. Small-game only
