I just sent in my money and paper work. Lana said this year there will be an orientation/BBQ in January so they can go over all the rules with every member....they have to do this due to the conservatory regulations.

I can't wait! Gas below 2 bucks will really help.

My goals, hunt the north more than 3 times, and get to know it as well as the south.
I need to get a muzzleloader this year for some pig blood. Find a copper bullet that works as good as lead???? and take a few bobcats as well maybe one with the bow.

I'll be at the May JHO hunt this year to help out with first timers and take a pig myself, just hope I don't have a pig at 5 yards on Thursday afternoon like last year.
We just need lots of rain so the oats get back to normal.

I'm sure you're gonna have a good time. $450 there is a bunch of work on the house I could get done with that amount of cash. Gonna have to pass. I'd like to take a Javelina next year with my bow. Go to the big Island visit my sister and maybe hang out with Doc for a morning hunt. Sounds kinda tempting.

Come on.......you have to hunt the ranch once; at least during the JHO hunt, nothing like having a great group of guys to hunt with and someone new to tell all your tales to. But I don't blame you for not wanting to hunt Tejon when you have the properties you have access to.
<
Some of us have to pay to play.....until San Diego's pigs get going, by then my Jag Terrier will be ready to get some pigs.

During the spring I rarely see another hunter except at camp. Even then it usally is just one other hunter and his buddy for 70,000 acres per side, plenty of room for everybody.

With Spring Individual access you can camp, hike or hunt varmints, squirrels and coyotes. You can even fish Reservoir #2 with our boats, for large mouth bass, bluegill and catfish. Unlike the regular season, the entire ranch is open for you to explore and hunt. There are designated, unimproved camping areas so you can bring you camper or tent trailer for overnight stays.
Add the Family Addition to Spring Access and you, your spouse and any children in your home under the age of 21 are welcome. Hunt and fish with your family, at your convenience, for a day or a week all spring and summer. Call ahead for a guest pass for a friend or hunting partner. You may have up to five guest day-passes during the season.

SPRING—Individual Access Feb-Aug $900.00

ADD ON TO SPRING ACCESS Family Addition $400.00
Wild Pig Addition $450.00 each.

Plus they will work with you on what you want to do like bring someone for 3 days and 1 pig and other stuff like that. You just have to talk to them and they are really nice to deal with just bring your pocket book.

For many years I could not imagine paying to hunt anything, but I grew up and I liked having a place that I can call my own and can go anytime with no one scoping me from a far.
<
129.00 bucks per month is a fair deal in my book.

So don't knock it till you try it! But if I had your props I would never even think about paying to play.

MJB, I and the rest of my family are just as excited!! It'll be our 6th year buying into the Feb through August Spring hunt and I can't imagine getting any more bang for my buck than spending $2,000 for a key to 275,000 acres, couple boar tags, camping, AWESOME bass fishing, hiking, squirrel sniping, bear/elk/antelope siting and more. Maybe I'll see you up there this year. I'm always driving a four-wheel drive red Ranger with black rims and black windows and hunting with my wife. Give a shout if you ever see me.

Also, I've been shooting Winchesters E-tip through my .300 WSM and have dropped two boar so far with one shot each. I am very pleased. Hope to see you up there!

Try the Barnes Tipped MZ sabot through your muzzleloader. I have got amazing groups with mine!

And last year was my first year with the Tejon spring membership (first experience with the ranch in general) and I do feel it was a good deal.
Tons of pigs, a huge ranch, and you barely ever see another hunter except for one or two at the campground. I was able to harvest a nice sow with my bow. I would have used the blackpowder but it was during June i think when they closed it for rifles thanks to the condors and such.

Even though it cost more than a guided hunt, for those of you considering it, think of it this way. You get months to hunt on one of the best hog properties in southern california, and you have a great chance at a DIY hog!

I would like to come back for a JHO hunt and try my luck with 250grains of .50 copper!

If I were close enough when i lived in state, I would have done the membership in a New York second.. Great deal on an unspoiled piece of property.

As for the copper, the last JHO hunt sure hung some numbers, with not much problem..

There's not much I envy about you SoCal guys, but being close enough to do a Tejon Membership is definitely one of them.

If I were within two or three hours, I'd buy a diamond membership every year and the heck with hunting anywhere else!

I've thought about it. But for just 2 pigs I can't make it pencil. Have they changed that? can you shoot more than 2 now?

SD, last year you could add one more pig in the summer. But don't forget your wife can get 2 pigs add the jho hunt and you're got a full freezer. You will have to reload and add a .204 for the ground rats. Also, you can bring someone on the ranch for 3 days for a pig at 550.00, and they have boats you can use for fishing. Plus what everyone else said!
Thank god It's too far for the rest of you otherwise it would be too crowded!!!!!!

For the copper I've been using Barnes, I just want something softer so the pigs don't run off. I do shoot them in the neck or back of the head. I just hate it when they go to the bottom of the canyons, some times it takes most of the night to get the meat out.

I can't tell you how much fun the squirrel shooting is plus it's great for practice.

ND, I'm in a green GMC truck or a blue CJ8. See you at the BBQ.

The tipped TSX pin hole in/out on a speed goat. I've seen one good hole on a pig. We shall see.....

SD, call Lana, they change the rules as they go, but if you talk to Lana she can work wonders.

I'm about to sign up myself. Last I heard, you could add more than 2 pigs (at Tejon's discretion). I figure for 3 pigs and the membership, its a great deal, and even with 2 pigs its a fair price given that you can hunt it pretty much whenever you like while probably not seeing 1 other hunter. Given that I'm at around 40% success there I figure I get 5 hunts and 2 hogs in at an average cost of $360 per hunt. At Tejon! With nobody else there! North or south! Or say 8 hunts and 3 hogs for average of $281 per hunt! Imagine how much you could learn about Tejon in 5+ hunts! So its all adds up for me, and I look forward to spending lots of time up there in them Tejon hills come Spring.
