Tejon This Weekend

Anyone else heading to Tejon this weekend for the POR?

I plan on being there. We're hunting the North. This is the Rifenbark clan. Neil and Neil Jr., Rick Rifenbark and also Allen Morris. I'm using my .444 Marlin and Junior will have his 7-08 Remingtion Model 7.
Hope it doesn't rain!!

Please give my best wishes to the Rifenbarks this weekend. I had them out for a bird hunt and these are the best, most fun loving group of pranksters to have afield on any day.

Good Luck Gents. I just passed tejon on the I-5 about an hour ago and saw 4 hogs about a couple of hundred yards from the highway near the Tejon Elementary school. Go get em boys.

Hunted the North. Went high the first day and part of the second. Hunted where we had seen pigs before [earlier trip] but saw nothing at all [lots of does] in our favorite canyon or up near the pond. Hunted low on Sat afternoon. Four of us were strung out over maybe two miles of countryside. Didn't see a dang thing. The only thing our foursome killed was a 48 inch long rattler that we had for dinner on Sat night.
Others did score though. Saw a number of pigs at the game station from time to time during the weekend -- but none of them were ours. We hunted hard and I was surprised and disapointed that we didn't even see a pig on the move let alone have a shot at one. They were there, but not, evidently, where we were!
If there were a June POR I might try again but I guess there is no June POR this year.
Hunting carries no guarantees -- but we did have a fine time despite the rain on Sat night and on Sunday morning.

Hey Rifenbarks... don't forget the JHO June POR on the first weekend of June! Still got plenty of spots left open.

We hunted the South side. I have yet to get my first hog in 2 trip to Tejon. My buddy did get a nice one though. Four of us went straight to our favorite canyon.This canyon was thick with growth last year and almost unpassable after all the rain. We were working two sides of the draw just below the top of the canyon when my buddy spotted a nice hog in the oaks. he dropped him at 50 yards. We had a hell of a time getting that SOB out. I had one hail mary shot I missed on Saturday and that was all we saw for the weekend. My buddy's hog took the South side jackpot at 223#.

This is Darrin's 2nd jackpot win in 2 years we havebeen hunting tejon. Me, well I need help, maybe I'll stick to tuna fishing

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Maybe I'll try again in June. With all the JHOers maybe I'll pick up a tip or two and get my hog.

Unfortunately, there is no POR in June. May 20-22 is it for the year. I asked my fiancee if she had any objection if I went to the May POR [there are still spaces left according to Barbara Boeck] but my financee reminded me that we are getting married on May 21 and that sort of ended that. Women! Know it alls!

Been there, done that during deer season last year. Oh well....
