I'm going to Tejon next weekend for an archery pig hunt and it's my first time pig hunting and at Tejon ranch. Anyone have any good areas I should look at on the south side? Or any other pointers you could think of? I have a GPS so if you have any points I could punch in that would be great too. Thanks in advance.

Everywhere, Literally.I have hunted pigs there alot and can tell you with cofidence that pigs can be anywhere from right off of the 5 freeway, all the way to the desert size and everywhere in between. spend time glassing north facing slopes. But seriously bro, they are evreywhere.

Is it best to hunt early morning and late in the evening? Then take a break during the afternoon. Or just go all day? Thanks for the tips.

Personally, I would hit it hard in the morning and evening hours. DON'T count out the afternoon hunts through. A lot of guy nail hogs in the mid day heat. If it was me, I would be at camp as little as possible. During the mid day I would be bustin brush to get the hogs up and moving. Early in the morning and the evening hours, get up high and GLASS. Catch something on the move!! Goodluck!!!

Hunt all day, use glassing as an excuse to take a break. Even in June the weather there is cool enough that they are moving around all day long.I can almost promise that you will spot pigs your first day there. If you do, and they are not spooked out, they will be in that exact same area the following day.

As I drove past Tejon we saw pigs on a hillside. Real hurtful as we were lacking any pigs in 3 days at Camp Roberts. I will probably look at Tejon for a hunt in the future.

I feel that for the price you really cant beat Tejon Ranch. Its 300.00 bucks to hunt there with archery equipment. I spend that much in gas driving up to Camp Roberts, also it being so close to home, you could literally make it a day trip and not burn yourself out.

I did the same thing...had a cold the week before, and was snorting all the time I was up there. Went and got antibiotics for a severe sinus infection the day after I got back. Go on up there, and knock them dead!

Got back late last night.... No pigs for us, we had a good hunt though. It was our first time hunting pigs and first time at Tejon. We talked to several "vets" and I learned a lot. I will go back for sure. We hiked our butts off up and down Tunis ridge, Tunis Creek, Gegus ridge, Squirrel ridge, Hunters ridge, and Beartrap flats. The weather was a problem too. A lot of swirling wind, a little rain and not much heat. The vets said it was a real hard hunt as the winter has been so wet that there is feed and water everywhere and the low heat so they are not as predictable. There were 16 hunters on the ranch and only 3 pigs were taken. One of the vets even gave us his pig, a little charity for the rookies I guess. 146 #'s dressed out so I will at least have some meat to enjoy. All around a great trip with some friends and I will be back. Thanks everyone for their help and comments. I printed them all and had the paper in my hunt pack to use for reference while on the hunt.
