I read in one of Jesse's post's that he uses a 1.7X telephoto lense with his 2100 to give him more optical zoom. I was just wondering where I can find one and how much $$ are they? Also do they make any bigger than 1.7X for the C2100?
The 1.7x is made by olympus. It is called the B300.
I got mine from eagleeyeuk.com. I have heard of another reliable source at www.b-300.com. Expect to pay about $240. I really like mine and feel that it is worth every penny.
There is another teleconverter from Olympus called the TCON 300. It gives 3x. It costs a whopping $500 dollars though and has special mounting hardware. You would have to double check to make sure this tc works with your cam though.
I bought the 1.5x Olympus for my 2100UZ and have been well pleased with it. It is much cheaper than the B-300 (I paid <$100 including shipping). Not quite as powerful as the B-300, but a good lense for the money.
Here's a tip for you Olympus B300 tele lens owners.
The B300 tele lens comes with a protection cap for the front of the lens but there is no cap for the other lens to protect it when it is off the camera.
Buy of find a cap for Mennon shave creme or any shave creme cans that'll fit. They slide on perfectly to protect the lens.
