I live in Pa. I'm always reading about hog hunting in Texas, here in Pa all we have is little hunting preserves usually less than 200 acres and there really is no sport to it.
I'd like to come to Texas to hunt hogs an have inquired about doing so with a couple of outfitters/ranchers,etc. But the prices I'm getting back are steep, normally about 3 days for $1200 for 1 trophy and 1 meat hog and I must supply my own food, motel etc.
That's some expensive pork!
Any one reading this that has been to or goes to a place with lots of hogs and is fairly priced please post the name, web page or number. I'd really appreciate it. thanks!!!!!

If you really check around you should be able to find ranches that offer hog hunts for $75 to $100 per day. Some include lodging, others don't. Stay away from the Hill Country, instead search for a guide in the Brush Country. Uvalde County is excellent. Down near Laredo is also excellent.

Make sure you check to see if the ranch allows hunting at night and over bait. When you do, it is an absolute blast!

Good luck!

Ridge Runner... Do you know how much you are wanting to spend?? Also, what is your preferred method harvest.. Alot of the folks down in Texas use dogs and knives, so you will need to check that out also.... One last thing, if you pick a place ask around on here to see if anyone has been there. Try to get some feedback on the place before spending the cash...

Coondog:I am wanting to brining my son as a graduation present to him. I would not mind spending about $200/day a piece and stay 3 days if we are able to kill a couple of hogs each. I do not mind hunting with dogs, but would like to try a bait/night hunt, just cause that sounds like fun!
And if we could plan it when fall turkeys are open all the better. We hunt deer with handguns, inlines, bows but neither of us has tried a knife! Christ that sounds like fun!!!!!
I am assuming that the hogs are edible and we'd like to bring the better cuts back with us, so some type of place where we can cut them up ourselves is a must.
ANY information is greatly appreciated. Pa ridge runner

RidgeRunner... Turkey season starts this weekend so I hope you are planning to make it down soon!! Shoot me a PM with the dates and everything and I will give you some more information. Just be sure to get all of your licensing crap out of the way before you come down. As far the night hunting goes, we chase em at night with the dogs too... makes for a heck of a lot of fun... No problem about cleaning them and bringing them back either
