Tennessee Hogs

Where in Tennessee is the best place to go hog hunting? I am wanting to go on public ground. All info will be helpful

I don't know the state real well, but I believe the best hunting is the southern end of the mountains. Hopefully, one of our Tennessee members will Volunteer some info.

There's deffinately some pigs there, but i never saw one in 20 years of hunting in TN...well, except the one i saw getting a ride on the back of a four wheeler.
A place where i've hunted pigs and know some folks that shot a few is the Cumberland Plateau....around Crossville is a great place to start, Catoosa WMA (82,000 acres) in particular. Plenty of timber companies & WMA to hunt in the state as well, but i would focus on the Cumberland Plateau area.

Check out info on the Big South Fork Recreation Area in upper middle TN north of the Crossville area. There are hogs up there and you can hunt them. There are seasons for hogs in TN so make sure you get the right dates.

Yep, it typically coincides w/ deer season...i hunted big south fork once, big country.

I hunted the Smokies on the NC side of the border, in land that was supposedly "et up" with hogs... and never saw the first pig. I was deer hunting, fortunately, but I was a little blown away by how scarce the hogs had made themselves. There was some rooting sign, but that's just about the only thing that even indicated there were hogs in the area.

Since coming to CA and hunting hogs a lot more seriously, I've learned a lot of things to look for, and I wonder if I'd do better in NC now. But from what I saw, it's pretty easy to see why most of the locals hunt them with hounds.

So, I can't speak for TN, but my limited experience on the other side of the line says you'll have a pretty tough hunt.

Has anyone ever hunted with Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge in South Carolina?

Never been to Cypress, but SC has a real good hog population...'specially along the savanah river....what town is it in/near?
I've hunted/guided around Estill.

There is a lodge in Estill and in Fairfax. Do you know which one would be better?

I've hunted just outside Estill, many properties lie along the river....plenty of hogs, but many of the "plantations" have been runnin guide services for 20+ years and strictly hunt over corn piles.....the pigs have it figured out by now, stay in the swamp till dark....if i were going, i'd do a dog hunt!

if not, i'd request to do a spot/stalk hunt...sitting above a pile of corn all day in a tree stand that's been there for 20 years, ain't all that fun or productive (strictly my opinion).

Not real familiar w/ Fairfax.....so can't help ya there. Good luck w/ whatever decision you make, but don't hunt at Bostick Plantation in Estill
