I found this in the Texas Boars hunting site forums. Maybe we here in Tx could put together something like this. Just a thought.

We still have several openings for hog and varmint hunts, and will continue hunting hogs and varmints as long as weather permits! Right now, we are seeing large numbers of hogs and sign on our 3000 acres near Ennis, Tx. Our hog hunts run $150 per gun per day with 3 hogs being allowed per gun per day. There are no kill fees, but we will charge for excess pigs taken past 3 per gun. We are located just 30 minutes South of Dallas. We have fields where long and short shots, sometimes too short , are relatively easy. We also have several feeders set up that are being used daily, and have tree stands set up for bow, pistol, or shotgun hunting just 25 yards away. I recently took a large boar at one of these stands that weighed in near 375 pounds. These are quite common down there, and occasionally bigger hogs are taken. These a free ranging pigs and have alot of Russian in them. Some look like bears they are so wooly. Very few ferals are around, but they are there.

We use a technique in our stands while hunting at night that seems to work well. We have been very successful at harvesting those nocturnal pigs that come in sometimes 2-3 hours after dark. We hang glow sticks from our feeders so that in the dead of night, you get a clear profile of the pig. Yet, the pigs are not scared from these lights. These can be hung well before dark as we hunt into the evening, and still glow strong well into the night. So, if your hunt goes into dark, you can still see the quarry when they arrive. This is a type of hunting that every hog hunter needs to experience!

We can book in advance, as well as take short notice hunts. Call Dan at 972-875-2217 to book a hunt with us. Check out our webpage as well for details.

BzzBoys says he's in.

How about this one. BTW where is Satchmo and the Girls these days. This one would be a hell of a long drive for me, but It still sounds like fun to me. Let me know. This would even be close for those JHO'ers in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana, if you're close to the Texas border it would probably be a shorter drive for you than me. So C'mon people, let me know what you think.

I might be in for the Enis hunt. That's only about 45 minutes from me. Is that 150 a day with a two day min or just 150 a day period with 3 hogs per day per gun no minimum time limit?

It sounds like just 150 a day, if you don't want to stay a second day it doesn't sound like you're required too. I personally would plan on one day and if I wanted to stay another, I'd just pay there. If you can do that. I haven't found out yet to be sure. I'm just interested in getting some meat hogs really. If enough people are interested I can call and we can try to set up a date or something.

Cheers

Hey Leechul,

we're back from a long weekend on the farm
<
WHEW!! We went to east texas and bought 8 wild pigs
<
to put in our pens. They are only about 40 lbs each, but man are they mean little suckers.
<
then we went to an auction barn and after figuring out what he was saying we bought 4 goats!
<
We thought we were bidding on 3 nanny goats and 1 billy goat, but when we went around back to load them on the truck, we found we had bought 4 billy goats!!
<
OOOPS.
<
Man those auctioneers talk to fast!!
<
Anyway did you check on that hog hunt around Lometa? What did you find out? Are you still wanting do go with a knife? Let us know, we might want to go along too!

Sorry, I've been out of it for a while. I just got off 27 hours of work. They made me work all day yesterday and then I started my new class last night. I did get about and hour and a 1/2 nap yesterday afternoon. I didn't get home 'till about 6:30 this morning and I finally got to sleep for a little while. I'm not used to sleeping in the day so I made it to 1PM before I finally just had to get up. But its back to work tonight at 8. Man I'm tired.

I'll try to be more usefull later.
Thanks for all the replys
Rick

I looked up that phone number and it is from Liberty Hill which isn't really close to Lometa. Didn't reconize the name, but they might have some sort of land around Lometa that they run hog hunts on, just not sure.

Bzz,
Are you talking about the archery one? I think non hunting guests were free but I can't say for certain. I'm still waiting for the wife to get a job so I can have a little extra cash to play with. It's very dissapointing, but right now I'm living on pennies. I'm definitely still interested. The archery one has specials through August so hopefully I get this financial thing worked out by then. I probably should have kept my old truck... Oh what am I saying, it will work out somehow.
