Hay Bob in Tex, is there a way to contact you. I was given as a present a hog hunt near San Antonio and would like to get some unbiased information..
Thanks, Steve K.

We went to a small ranch in Texas. The owner buys pigs trapped on public and private land and releases them into his fenced property. He has a few treestands, but it is basically a spot and stalk proposition. He takes up to 6 hunters at a time and the cost is 200$ for 2 days and two hogs. Any hog over 170 lbs has a 50$ trophy fee attached. His wife skins, guts, quarters and hangs the hogs in a walk in cooler (she did 10 of them in the two days we were there.) She charges 25$ a hog to do this. He has lots of hogs, but they are very skittish and you have to really search to find the big ones. I killed mine at 38 yards and my bow is quiet. The boar died trying to locate me. Bob's was a different story. He hit his in the front shoulder as it was running towards him. It went into hiding after the hit. When a guy in your group wounds a hog, the group of 2-3 hunters must find and kill that hog before another hog can be hunted. That makes it very interesting and somewhat dangerous. 5 hours, 4 charges and 8 arrows later, Bob's hog was dispatched. That red hog was something. When we thought it was finished the owner's friend came in on a four wheeler to retrieve the hog. It charged the four wheeler and rammed the side of it pushing it up on two wheels. It was exciting. Oh...one other thing. You can only take three arrows in with you.

I took a 195 lb. boar Friday afternoon & a 115 lb. boar Saturday morning.

Nice hogs! I looked into Texas S while I was down there, just couldn't get away from the training long enough to do anything about it. But it sounds like you had a great time! And you definitely took home some nice bacon..

Thats one helluva rule. I think I like it. The three arrows rule... hmmm... dunno about that though.
