Does anyone know why the color red seems to "bleed" in digital pictures? I thought it was only my camera, but I notice it in other peoples pictures as well. Is there a way to correct the "bleeding" effect? I also notice it in pictures with orange, but not as much as red.

Paul, I believe what you are referring to is called Chromatic Abberation? (aka color aberration or color fringing) Ive seen it with the purple color also.

Is this an example of what you are talking about? Chromatic Abberation usually takes place between high contrast areas. (eg the interface between a bright sky and dark tree branches)

I think all cameras are guilty of CA to a certain extent, but usually better ($$) optics minimize or reduce it a lot more.
