I went out on Wednesday 02/15/2012. I scouted (with bow in hand, just in case) a few areas (based off the maps on Cleveland's website: http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5313594.pdf & http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5313595.pdf) and yes I know it wasn't the best weather to do it in. However, I did see one solid black pig, but he had already winded me and was hauling a$$ and I found a ton of sign, there was a spot on one of the dirt roads were it looked like a sounder of at least 20 hogs had crossed(tracks and scat in the road). I even found a couple spots were I'm gonna set-up some blinds in the coming weeks. I will post pictures if I can manage to get a pig this year.

P.S. I am intentionally being vague on where I seen sign, I'm just saying, because every time I post I get somebody trying to ask me exactly where I found the sign or seen them, thats also why I posted the links for the maps.

New to the site but wanted to chime in on the pig hunting in CNF. Im self taught and use intel from rangers and locals along with google earth to try and locate the most probable spots for them. My first hunt 2 years ago on eagle peak put me within 75 yards of a 150 lb plus hog. about the same time I realized what I was looking at he was off and running and I didnt even get a shot off. went back to that spot several times with no luck. 6 months later followed up again and saw lots of droppings and a well worn trail. also saw a trail cam so know I wasnt the only one on them. the terrain is rough and poison oak is everywhere out there, there is nothing easy about hunting this area. this Super bowl sunday I located freash signs of a small sounder south of there and have been out there every weekend with no luck. it seems that they are constantly on the move as hunters hikers and Mt lions push them all over. I keep my tag , license along with a 270 in the truck everytime Im out there thinking its going to be a chance encounter that will give another opportunity
