Where was this?
I am so sorry...
I am so sorry...
Just not enough to share your piggy honey hole with me. ((((Sigh))))
Here’s my quickie weekend hunt report. Picked up Bubbleboy at 2:18am and arrived at a well known secret spot in the morning, tough uphill climb has me trying and crying as my knee injury goes ballistic and swells up like Rosie O’Donnell at an all-you-eat buffet. Arrive at top of first ridgeline roughly 1/3rd of the way to planned destination. See a decent spot, pitch chairs under tree and I enjoy the absence of pain. My buddy Gary hangs for a while and decides to push on to the primary spot. I stay put. I have pulled an all-nighter and doze off periodically. I open my eyes and there’s a coyote 100 yards in front of me. He moves behind a small tree so I grab my R25 and shooting sticks and line up but he looks too big to be a yote so I pull up my binos for a closer look. Yup…big purdy blonde yote just waiting for lead. I push the button my on EOTech sight and nothing…reticle won’t light up. I just replaced the battery contacts and assume it’s the button. Line up what I believe is dead center and take the shot. Goes high and he’s suddenly a grayhound in a race for life. Boy was he fast. I snooze for a bit until it gets cold and I must layer up.
Just after sunset I awaken again and see four huge blobs 200 yards out. I’m certain they are cattle as I saw some black calves earlier in the day nearby. But in the binos these cows become the most rotund swine I have ever seen in the wild. They must be stealing feed from nearby ranches. Easy 300 pounders, maybe just over 350…all four of em rootin’ in silence. I put a stalk on em to close the distance cuz my reticle still won’t come on and I missed the yote at 100 yards…no way I’m taking a 200 yard shot. I get to roughly 75 yards when the wind hits my back and their heads all go up in unison. I wait for two of em to line up before taking the shot (yes, I have two tags) but alas…another clean miss. I am FN pissed! Why didn’t I bring my 300 winmag? I beat myself up…starting tooling with the scope and finally get the darn thing to light up. I placed some TP around a tree truck and squeeze two shots off. They make one hole. Sight is dead on. Starts to get dark and Gary shows up. I am upset, amped and motivated. The hike back to the truck killed me. Scheduling knee surgery now cuz I it is obvious this knee is unreliable. I’ll be back and this time I’ll be using the Rem 700. I’ll be kicking myself in the interim. Took no photos this trip…it was strictly business and I was sleep deprived. But at least I saw what I came for. I must admit…as I closed the gap between me and the razorbacks I felt a bit uneasy. They were that big. I felt like the perfect sized snack for the four of em. LOL
OOOOOPs
Bruce's post was from last year, guess he should of had the surgery by now. Not wanting to uncut anyone, but the offer still stands.
I need to pack up a bit here soon, looks like all the public pig Hunting is a pack in hunt in California.
