Nor should they be. Glad to hear all states aren't gougin for budget. Their biologists and F&G must know something Kalifornians don't.

California is the most populous state in the Union and if hog hunting were not regulated, the backyard hunters in areas still open to hunting will pop these hogs indiscriminately and the hog numbers will dramatically be lower. Meaning there will be less hogs for me to hunt. Unlike Texas, which has a bigger area and less population, it can still afford to list the wild hog as a non-game animal. For hunting purposes, I like it the way it is regulated in overcrowded California. 'Nuff said.

Awesome forum here guys! My first post.

Being from Texas, I can honestly say that I don't think anyone here is worried about hog numbers being lower. On the contrary, they are becoming a major nuisance to farmers and ranchers and are a hot topic in terms of how to better control their exploding numbers. We hunt'em 24/7/365!
