Just wondering...have been having trouble getting my rifle to group at 100 and 200 yds. Scope doesn't appear to be sliding/moving and the picatinny rail I put on seems to be secure as well. I have tried 3 different types of ammo and I can't seem to get them to group up well. I'll have one bullseye...then four or five flyers, adjust the MOA, and its all over the place. Anyone have any recommendations? It seemed to shoot copper well but I was wondering if people see a real difference in these rifles based on lead vs. copper ammo. I am confident enough to hit a deer @ 200yds as the flyers only spread about 4 inches out but I am an ethical hunter, I have not and won't take a shot until I can get a tight group at 200yds.

Also, is there anywhere in the SoCal area to find Sako ammunition?

Loctite the bases? And not to get all Type A personality, but you are trying to eliminate all variables so maybe torque all the screws to spec on the scope rings and base. Make sure you are on a quality shooting rest setup too.

I would should large groups, like several of 10 rounds, to see if they are truly flyers. You would get a better idea of what is going on. I could see maybe 2 flyers out of a 10 shot group as shooter error. You don’t want to see an average of bigger than 3-4 inch groups which would indicate a rifle problem. 1-2 MOA guns are no longer very expensive.

My brother has one of those in 300 WSSM (maybe 1 S??). The rifle is exceptionally accurate.

Planning on remounting the scope to the torque specs and going to go from there. Guess I just have to keep buying ammo until I can get a tighter group. Just another good excuse to get out to the range

Going to be spendy but that is the fun….shooting! The ammo search is on….

Not trying to be insulting but are you a long time gun owner and shooter? I have no idea of your shooting experience. With newer shooters there is the flinch factor in anticipation of recoil. A light rifle like yours probably has more recoil than a normal weight rifle.

I am a newer shooter and figured that I was pulling shots the first time at the range with the new gun. Went and bought a more stable mount to shoot off of and solved that problem. Also had some others who have more experience than I take shots and had the same trouble with the groupings. Just going to keep burning money on fuel and ammo until its dead nuts.
