Sounds like we're gonna get close to filling up after all!

I'll look at making a run to the gun club this weekend, but if I can get free I might go find some place to chase a dumb bird instead.

I do need to get behind that scope and see where it's hitting, though. Haven't had much chance to do any shooting in a while.

Bob, he says he's outa money. Oh well, I refused to loan it to him:) Never mind on the reload Q, not gonna do it yet.

I really do need to go up in them thar hills this weekend and shoot some stuff to practice and make sure it's still 1.5" high at 100 yards!

So how are we all going to be staying on site? I plan on a tent and an air mattress. If my memory serves me correct, after drinking tequila with Phil in the past, I should sleep just fine but maybe feel a little like this at 0-dark-thirty

Just in case the weather get's hairy and someone doesn't have a 4x4 I'll have room for one more in my tracker or if anybody from San Diego area need's a ride that might work.

Thomas is bringing his new motor home and offered me a bed in it in trade for riding with me in my truck on the ranch. What a deal! I get to be the one to break in his new rig by spilling beer and making a big mess....lol

I live down here in Santee.

I've driven to Tejon before, and it's not too bad. I'm just going to tent camp - keep it real simple. But my Bronco needs some work, and I honestly don't know if I'll have time to do it. If it's not ready, I was just going to take my honda civic and bum a ride from somebody with a 4x4 when I'm up there.

But maybe I should put this out there... Thinking about carpooling... gas is to $$$$$ and it may be cheaper to split with someone. Then again, it's always nice to "Bring your own car to the party"

OZ,my tracker is only a 2 seater and I'm tenting also so I don't have room for a lot of gear (I eat cup of soup and pb@j sandwiches to keep the load lite) but you are welcome to squeeze in or take your car to the ranch and ride around with me, Bill usahunter@aol.com...I live in Fallbrook

Check the JHO POR thread at the top of the Hog Forum for a few important updates.

Oh, and check out the Events Forum to get on the list for the Flying J. We had a great breakfast there last year... let's do it again!

Speck,

Any news about my JHO packet?

I've been checking the mail box everyday since Thursday and the wife is getting suspicious.

Afraid she might find the hidden stash for my fee. I have to keep it in cash and PMO it you so there will be no audit trail. If she finds out, pay back is big time -- at least 1 carat.

Thanks DirtPoor, that's a very kind offer. I think I will do that. I'll drive my 32mpg honda civic up to Tejon, loaded with guns and gear, and then bum a ride from someone with a 4x4.

I hope another week of rain won't make the roads slick when we get there.....I think it may be time to buy some chains.

Any recommendations on chains? 4 x 4 GMC Sierra w/Z71.

I don't think the roads will be a problem when we go. It's been cool up there, but not raining and shouldn't be any significant rain between now and the 12th. I'm just hoping it doesn't suddenly get blazing hot.

Never hurts to prepare, of course. I think there was a thread about the March hunt where someone was also asking about chains, and he got some good advice. For my part, I picked up a decent set at 4-wheel parts. Installed them once to see if I could do it, and haven't had them out of the box since.

Picking up a set of chains for the jeep tonight and plan on installing them for a trial run this weekend.
After the last fiasco you can bet a steak dinner I won't be at Tejon without chains.

Now all I need is to sign up for that breakfast.

Going to Project 2000 Wednesday 26th at 4:30pm to check the scope. And maybe the model 94.....anyone else in SD, stop by and plug some paper even if you’re not going to Tejon.

I'm gonna toss this out there early because I imagine it will be stressed at orientation. There are tons of hogs on the ranch right now and virtually every group I have seen in the last 2 months has wet sows and piglets too young to survive without momma. PLEASE make sure you're not pulling the trigger on a wet sow. The grass is getting tall and the youngsters can be hard to see, so please take a few extra seconds before you drop the hammer to make sure.

Yeah, two years ago there was a hunter that shot a wet sow... sad to see those little striped footballs running around without mama, completely unafraid of people.

But hey... isnt' that were Lil Smokeys come from??? Mmmmmmm... Lil Smokeys..... delicious

Hey guys... don't forget to check out the hunt chatter over in the Events Forum.

Time to coordinate plans for check-in, and also see what kind of interest there is in a big-pig jackpot!

While you're there, don't forget to sign-in for our annual Flying J pre-hunt breakfast on Friday morning before check-in!
