Well just got home from my hunt. It was a very different elk hunt than I have ever had. Saw big bulle every day but there were just too many eyes to sneek up on. Got to withen 30 yards of a great 7x7 with no broken tines but when he stood up all that was above the sage was his neck on up with no shot opp. Well on saturday the second to last day we spotted a set of tracks leading into the mountains which looked more like chucker mountains than elk but there ended up being quite a few elk on these hills which were also full of chucker. Well my dad spotted a bull and the stock was on. A hour and a half later I was withen 25 yards when the bull stood with a quarter away shot. Well my shot was a little off and I hit him right in the shoulder
no penatration at all. Well we tracked him till dark on tracks alone and marked where he last was. The next morning after the 2 hour hike back in to where he was my dad spotted him again. Well one more shot and it was done I got my first elk a 5x4 all beat up. Not a tine on him was unbrocken but I was sure happy with him being my first elk and all and comming on the last day. I'll post pic's later
