Tips and Tricks- From the Pro's to an Amateur

Hey everyone,

Curious if anyone has any tips or tricks that you wish someone would have told you before you went on your first bear hunt? My trip is a week away! Less bears on the cams but some none-the-less.

There is a very good DFG video on youtube about bear hunting in California. Somewhere in the video one of the DFG guys says hunter reporting data shows that most bears taken in california are shot by deer hunters who happened upon a bear and took the shot. So my tip is to go deer hunting. (Just make sure you have your bear tag with you.)

This is why i allways get both...even though i would much rather prefer a bear......deer chili or bear burgers...both are good.....

Bear have an extreamly excellent since of smell. I always have hunt wind direction detector and use it often. I also have a deer bleat call in case I want to use it. Have a headlamp, hunt till last shooting light and hike out by headlamp.
