I always have a pig tag on me whenever I'm hunting, same reason I buy a bear tag every year

You get 5 pig tags/year with a lifetime license. That plus a deer tag and the hunting license itself make the lifetime license plus big game supplement well worth it for the over 62 year old hunter...

I carry my hunting license and a pig tag or two whenever I drive my vehicles anywhere. Living in Monterey County means you have to be ready to act on your commitment to hunting. And although the pig tags have gone up from practicallly free to about $20 they are still the best ticket to delicious game animals who are fun to hunt, and a challenge to get to and get them out to the cooler.

Three wild hogs this year and each is a story that will achieve legendary status as time goes by. And the best meat I have eaten since my family raised southdown sheep and I worked as a teenager on two cattle breeding ranches and got real beef untainted with chemicals and too many antibiotics.

But the best thing is the memories thepig hunting has given me and the flavorful roasts and BBQ's that have graced my table. Pig heaven...Swine soiree.... Go Saxon--and after reading your post from Native Hunt you are a stud for getting your wife into the game (pun intended!) Bon appetit!

I still need to buy mine, then find some time to do some hunting. Recently, the way my life has been going, for me to do this, I'm going to have to cut something out. I need me some pork chops man!

Ditto. Best investment I ever made (not quite your age yet, but I'm gettin' there).

It looks to be a banner year for hogs. The southern Sierra Mountains and foothills are knee deep in wild oats and barley. Under the oaks, it's hip high. This will change when the cattle are moved up into the fields but for now it's great feed. The hogs are making "snail trails" through the stuff. Very easy to track. Water is everywhere. I've got two hog tags left for this year (until the end of this month) and five more will become valid on July 1st. Life is good :smiley_yahoo:.
