While the color and form of the clouds is impressive, I have witnessed many funnel-forming clouds that would shock Dorothy. This one doesn't look too bad. Worst one I saw turned the sky dark grey, with yellowish green tint and the 'pockets' or egg-crate formations were endless and spinning.
Here's a sunset shot from Saturday after an occluded front pushed monsoonal moisture over our area. The pockets have dissipated, but the dense clouds still add some drama.
The kids noticed that the clouds directly over the sunset appear to be islands in a sea of red.
