Trail Cam Stolen Lake Sonoma

Just thought I'd post this in hopes that the D bag who stole my trail cam from Lake Sonoma is reading this. I had it cable locked to a tree below Liberty and still some loser sack decided to steal my cam. Some outdoorsman you are you pile of shit. Anyway, any of you that have the masterlock cable lock for trail cams, be aware that the key and lock are generic and interchangeable. That is what happened here I assume, the sack had the key and just took my cam. Anyway, it happens all the time but it is so troublesome to think that other hunters can be such assholes to other hunters. I don't get it but unfortunately have to deal with it.

I have refused to buy Trail cams just because theft of trail cams is so rampant in California.

Yeah, I didn't rule them out completely but under the circumstances of where the cam was located(far off trail and hidden well) and the fact that the key was most likely used to take the cable lock off leads me to believe it was another hunter who is familiar with the lock.

Sorry to hear that. I just bought a cheapo Tasco trail cam from walmart, I figure why spend so much $ when some douchebag might steal it anyway. It sucks that people in the woods can’t mind their own business.

Thanks, a nice good clear image is great but it comes with a cost. Also, Dustin, I am not outright accusing anyone here of taking it but it is not unreasonable that the D bag who did take it might lurk around in here.

I'm in the construction business and its a never ending battle in 2017 i had over 150k in trucks and eqp stolen gone for ever

I had a trail cam stolen early on. After that, I decided to use lockable bear boxes. Haven’t had a problem since, and I have plenty of pics showing hunters poking around at the camera.

Did you post pics of a shop yard that had been broken in? I seem to remember that someone around here had a big work break in.

I've lost a couple to animals but never had one stolen or vandalized. My cams are put in an with a little camo and wire is used instead of the provided straps. The straps stick out like a sore thumb.
Got picks of four or five hunters and a couple hikers but none of them saw the cams.
Could just be that I'm lucky but hiding them has to help some.

Sorry to hear, that sucks. I use some camo cloth I have to make a kind of ghillie suit sort of like this:https://www.amazon.com/CAMBUSH-Camo-Concealment-Trail-Cameras/dp/B00NGU9KCU
Then I use a hot glue gun to glue some leaves and sticks to the body of the camera. I cover the LED lights as I'm only using it to watch whats moving during the day. With only a roughly 3/4" circle for the lens showing in the middle of all the other stuff it's almost impossible to see even when you look for it. As others have said, the straps are a giveaway so hide them well.
