Trophy Chasers, Dan Herrera, Guided hunts and private land tags

Anyone hunted with these folks before? Just curious as it looks like a decent place to hunt.

i have not hunted with pinnacles wild boar before, but dan herrera at trophy chasers is very shady. i know many people who do not like him as he bs's up his hunts. i rememeber 4 years ago i had a deer hunt set up with him and he raised the price on me after i gave him the deposit. i said no way and he gave me the deposit back. he bounced the first check but he finally gave me a good 2nd check. just becareful but pinnacles maybe great hunting, not sure

Deposit Chasers

A year ago a friend and I sent Dan Herrera / Trophy Chasers deposits for Colorado unit 70 tags. Dan kept jacking-up the price of the tags and never sent us the vouchers. Now we are have trouble getting our deposits back. Every time we contact him he gives us some lame excuse why he cannot send it. Instead of a Trophy Chaser I have become a deposit chaser. Buyer Beware!

Dan Herrera/Trophy Chasers is not "shady" he is nothing less than a crook. A friend and I just returned from a CO mule deer hunt with him, and not one part of the hunt was as advertised. When we paid Dan in full the day before the hunt he tried to charge us $500 more each. We were told that we would be the only two hunters on a 12,000 acre ranch (of which only about 20% held deer), and instead there were six of us hunting the same ranch. We were told we would have one on one guiding which turned out to be three on one. We were told that he averages 190'', in reality there was only one 190'' buck on the entire ranch. Twice Dan brought other hunters around in front of us to cut us off and try to kill the only decent buck on the ranch, which he succeeded in doing the second time. Dan talked of all the ranches he had to hunt in this area, but when we asked to go to different ranches he always had some excuse as to why we couldn't go. At one point Dan agreed to let another hunter hunt the same ranch-free of charge, which brought the total to 7 hunters on the same ranch!

I could go on and on about all the shady things Dan pulled in just a five day hunt-NONE of the hunters in camp were happy at all, but I'll quit at this. In short, if you want to be ripped off and totally frustrated on a hunt, then by all means book with Dan and Trophy Chasers!

Jesse - seems to me your support for Dan is in question as to why? I bet if we kept this going you would find many "people in second place" screaming loud about Mr. Herrera and his bad behavior. Fact is that he has not returned my deposit from over a year ago! I can show you the emails of crap from him telling me he will get it out. I have friends with the same stories. Many others I will be happy to direct to this site in support of the team in second place as you put it.

something to be said for being so angry about getting the shaft that you post twice. I have been pretty lucky (looks for wood to knock on) that all of the guided hunts i went on were solid businesses that didnt do what i have seen here.

bjm, please don't put words in my mouth. I do NOT know you or Dan and support no one in this issue since I WASN'T there and JHO was not involved. We also have a policy here to allow BOTH sides of the story to be told to be fair. Our members are sharp enough to figure out who's being square usually. Again, tell your story and stick to the facts. We'll invite the other party in a dispute to post or email us their version for all to see. It's the only fair way to do it. We're also not going to allow a guide or client to come in here and badmouth someone with nothing to back up their claims.

I'm also not sure what my hockey coach signature has to do with your beef with Dan. Let's stay in topic so we don't muddy the water.

Post the facts, put it in the guide reviews and let the potential clients (folks like me) decide on the data. I don't know Dan Herrara/Trophly chasers from Adam. Certainly the post from BMToth would make one pause. But then there are posts from "persons" bjm and bjwoods who had never posted here and each signed up solely to post a real accusation about the Dan Herrara. So I tried to find other reports of problems with this outfitter but nothing came up quickly on a couple of searches. I'm surprized somewhat if this guy is a bad as the latter two say, why I couldn't find other posts elsewhere about "problems".

So if you shared an awful experience, e.g. what bjwood wrote - yes do get other to confirm it here, put it in the guide review section and be sure you put it out there on "scam alert" etc. On the other hand, if this is simply someone(s) with a personal agenda vs Dan Harrera, that may also become clear.

Jesse - can you check to be sure the IP address on bjm and bjwoods are not the same.

bjm and bjwoods are two different people who have had a bad experience with Dan Herrera. Infact someone from Dan's office email me last week and let me know my refund was sent on the 19th of Oct. No check has come and this is the same story "check is in the mail" I have heard for over a year. Just want my money back.

We must have been lucky, we hunted on one of his ranches a couple of years ago in Colorado and everything was as agreed,the only reason we didn't kill elk was our fault

There isnt enough room on this forum to tell the truth about Dan Herrera and Trophy Chasers. I personally had to guide five hunters this year from Utah that he sold a bogus hunt to. Not only did his check to the outfitter (my father-in-law) bounce but he never did make right by the hunters. We (in the interest of good future business) gave the hunters the best hunt possible for the price they were able to pay after getting ripped off by Dan. I believe if anyone is truly interested; it would not be hard to find more than several people to ask about their previous experiences with this guy (Dan Herrera) I can think of at least four off hand that would most likely respond to emails or personal phone calls. I also have intimate knowledge of at least two ongoing lawsuits and investigations involving this man (Dan Herrera) both are felony accusations of theft by deception and fraud totaling in the tens of thousands of dollars. I personally challenge this man (Dan Herrera) to come onto this forum or any other for that matter and deny anything I have stated here. You can compare the existing website he has: barkingspidercamo.com to mine which was started in 2006. He has stolen our logo and claims to have both an office and location in southern CA. Both of these are also false statements as I have personally been to the man's (Dan Herrera's) home in San Ramon where he has a 10'x10' office and ZERO employees. I have also been in contact with the owner of Dip Shitz in sw CO where this man (Dan Herrera) has been sending all of the work he has been taking in to be done. He knows absolutely nothing about the water transfer printing process. It seems his (Dan Herrera's) entire reason for being is to steal/cheat/lie to as many people as possible to get as much for nothing as he can. Good Luck if any of you ever has any dealings with him.

I normally dont waste my time repling to this kind of B.S. But Hunters failed to mention they both harvested deer and it was 75 degrees! My hunters were 100% success on 2nd hunt with a 203" deer as for seven guys on one ranch? Nobody hunts my ranches for free? more B.S I you want to see how hunts went call referances many have returned for seven years!
