Here is a picture of my 10 month old lab I'm trying to train to hunt sheds.
She is getting better but its going to take some time because I 'm not sure if its being done the right way. Anyhow she has learned if she is told to go and get the horn she gets a doggy bisket.

You're on the right track and starting young won't hurt! I never started training mine for sheds til he was 5. He's picked up a few on his own this year. Ones I would never have found!

Make it fun, and train often. Probably the 2 most important points!

He's my shed buddy Champ. 6 year old male.

I sure love labs. If I get another lab it will be about 8 weeks old. And I'll start training right then. Earlier the better. Good luck with the pup.

Keep playing with the horn let her think that the horn is her favorite toy, throw the horn instead of a ball and she will get to associate that with play, try hide and seek with the horn, give lotsa praise and really play it up"Gooooooood dog"
