Two Nice North Base Boars Down!

Steve got his on Saturday night. Got him with the .300 wsm 165 gr. TSX handload at about 75 yards, dropped in his tracks, 50 yard drag (I like those) and he gutted out at 142 lbs. Mine went down last night: 250 yards with the 7mm mag using a 140 gr. TTSX handload that I wanted to try on a hog. He went straight down and never twitched. He's about the same weight. Easy drag as well (about ten feet). (Those Barnes bullets just don't work very well)

I think we're done killing hogs for a while!

When we got him on the hook we noticed a scar on his back. It appears the hog was attacked some time ago by something. It could have been a cat. Here's the picture. BTW he gutted out at 138 lbs. He had four parallel scars about four inches long on the left side of his shoulder. It's hard to see from the picture but it was easy to see how it was possible. Interesting.

Looks like a cat claw pattern. Coyote is much narrower. Either a bobcat or mt lion.

I bet that hog had a story to tell!
