[attachment=40286:attachment]As some of you wrap up your season mine hits stride next week, we got no snow till feb (14") and it melted by mid march condition were perfect for 8 hours then we got hit with 14" more the last melt began yesterday march 21 and it is supposed to be 60 degrees tomorrow so I expect a very muddy shed season (which is fine with me and my muck boots, plus it keeps most people out of my shed grounds).

On Dec, 10 my dog jesse made her first solo find, in the middle of a hay field, looks like last year's.
I believe the red tail hawks and the great horned owls keep the critters from venturing that far out in the open .

On Jan 19 we were out on a mountain side behind a bunch of houses and as I was turned aside by some no trespassing signs Jesse found this for me . [attachment=40287:attachment]

I hear you on the snow.Everytime I'd get some snow melt and things were looking good I'd get some more snow. Finally all my snow is gone and now my work hours are keeping me from getting out.
That was a nice buck you found, should clean up nice and make a nice piece.
Good luck with the sheds, looks like warm weather and rain here for the next couple days.Keep us posted on your finds and Welcome to Jesse's.

I havn't decided if finding this forum has been encouraging or not , it definately has fueled my addiction
but I used to think I was good at finding antler ya know 6 or so a yr (12 my best yr, and only one matched set)a few 4 point sides a couple 8 pnt skulls, I never met anyone who found more than me, till I started training my dog and researching shed hunting last fall. Its been a bit humbling to say the least. I never knew it was quite so pupular on a national level.
Hello my names Chip and I've been a shed hunter for 17 yrs. LOL I never realized there was actually a support group.
Thanks, and hopefully I can add a good journal to this forum.

I'd plant that skull in the ground up to the antlers, either in a flower garden, or veggie garden, leave it until late fall and dig it back up and hose it off you should have a good lookin' european skull

Alright, Today IS what shed hunting is about, finding bone , unlike the last few weeks.
My best shed day ever!! In the middle of a small field Jesse came up with a small 3 point, as I was throwing her ball (as reward) I spotted a 4 point side , about 10 feet away in the same bed area.
sorry no as they lay, but pics coming up. The next hour was uneventfull so we went back to the truck and pulling out the driveway (to the conservation area) I spotted bone about 150 ft out in a mowed lawn area,
stopped the truck walked out and no kidding the match to the 4 point side WOW!

That's a great feeling spotting them like that wondering the whole time as you walk up to as to just what you have.
Nice set too!!
