America’s maverick fishing tackle inventor, John Beath, devised a way to film rockfish and halibut underwater to figure what makes them bite — and when. The results are in this one-of-a-kind video released this week. It shows how UV light affects deep-water fish, as well as the timing of the strike. “I wanted to send my UV mini FAT Squid to the bottom to learn more about rockfish,” Beath said. “The first deployment went to 180 feet deep.
