My buddy and I drew a couple archery tags for unit 17 in New Mexico. Can anyone provide any information on this unit (i.e. Terrain, Type of hunt, etc.)? Any information would be awesome as this is our first trip to NM.

What season did you draw? It's definately mountainous and not your mesa country like other units. I've been there past the Ross Johnson ranch...and driven past and a little ways into parts of it...but, not much really...it's more gentle than the Wasatch front here in UT. I have not hunted 17 but have seen the mountain range. Bubba and I might have drawn the first season so we might see ya out there.

Thanks for the reply. We got the early season hunt...we couldn't apply for the later archery hunt due to our schedules.

Jerkee, Congrats. That's awsome. Are the draw results online? I know a guy that used to guide in the Gila. I'll talk to him and see if he will help you out. Good luck. Ed F

I hope that's where me & Bubba drew too. If not, we'll be in Northern NM. Great opportunity elk-wise, but not as many bigger bulls...

Congrats on the tag! So I guess that means that I did not draw 16A, or deer, or sheep, no hit on my cc. That means I will now be 0 for 11, with 6 more to go.

Good luck

Ed- Sounds good! Let me know if you find anything out.

Bowhuntr- 0 for 11, man hopefully you'll pull something! Good luck on the rest of your draws.
