Here is the most current update I have. I mentioned earlier about changing the early season either sex region wide tags to specific zones valid in Bishop, Tinemaha and West Tinemaha. I have recently learned that this is not possible because of the time frame for public review and comment. I also learned that we can ask the Commission to take the no change alternative for this hunt which would leave the hunt as it was last year. That is currently our only option for this year and have that hunt continue. It is not exactly what we would like because of the potential to harvest animals in zones that are below objective. But I think it is the best working solution for this year. I appreciate all the responses I received from people indicating that they truly do want that hunt and are adamant about it. That is currently where things stands and I have been working with the people above me to make the Commission aware of what we are proposing. I am trying to get the web updated with the correct information but this is not done by myself. It should be in Tracks but will be the zone specifc options for the early season. I am trying to get an update on the web with the correct information, the hunt codes should be the same.

Sincerely

Joe

I'm still confused. Does Joe's response mean that the season data on the link I posted above is incorrect and that the change he previously proposed to still have an August hunt (but zone specific this time) is truly correct?

Or is he saying that he didn't get his earlier proposal for the August hunts approved and our only option now is to plead with the commission to keep things the way they were in 06 and the last few years?

All I got from his post is that the data is wrong. OK, so what is correct? When will the seasons actually be next year. Clear as mud.

Despite what has been said or posted, the only things that count are what is print or on the DFG website now. All the rest is wishful thinking or appologies.

"Clear as mud." Same as always...

I guess I am not making this super clear. Barring some kind of refusal from the Commission the Department is going to recommend to the Commission that they keep the Owens Valley early archery season as it was last year. That is the only option we have with the parameters we have to work under. The web site info and Tracks info is all proposed, nothing is final until the Commission authorizes it. I do not control the web site and they posted the early information. Hopefully I can get this changed quickly. I see no point in telling people one thing and doing another. I have tried to keep people up to date as to the progess of what is happening. There is a lot of paperwork and reports that are submitted to the Commission ahead of the meetings, it is all a legal process and everything has to go step by step. Please give me a call if you have any questions and I will do my best to explain it. 916 445-9992

Sincerely
