SUCCESS!!!
I'm so stoked even as I write this a day later. I was able to get a pig this trip with my bow! This is my first ever archery big game harvest and I felt like Luke Bryan when he got his buck
I got the call Thursday after work that my buddy had some pigs come onto his grandfathers cattle lease. He said we had permission to go after them but we could only use bows. I cancelled my duck hunt this weekend and told him I'll be there! I wasn't able to get there until Saturday afternoon and we went right to glassing. We didn't see anything all afternoon or that evening and wondered if the pigs moved on. We got up early Sunday morning to go push a canyon that has a small creek and lots of sign. We still had no luck and didn't see anything. While we were sitting under an oak discussing the game plan his cousin spotted a lone pig a couple hundred yards away rooting under an oak tree. We were able to work our way to it and waited for it to walk up the creek to us. I of course forgot my range finder and guessed that the other side of the creek was 45-50 yds away. When he eventually worked into an opening I held for 45yds and let an arrow go. That felt like the longest millisecond of my life! The shot felt amazing though and I was super proud of how calm I was. That all went away really quick when the arrow smacked the pig and he dropped instantly. The first shot actually went higher than I hoped and went through a lung and severed his spine. He was down and I put another double lung shot on him to make sure he wasn't gonna go anywhere. As soon as I can figure it out ill upload some photos. BTW those Muzzys are no joke. the second shot was a clean pass through.
