A couple of friends of mine went out last week to chase some hogs. One of the guys is "Myfriendis410".

This 104lb hog popped my XCR 338RUM's cherry. I was using a 225gn TSX. The shot was about 125yds.

Now I need to get my 7mmRUM out and also get a load developed for my 375RUM and get a hog or two with them.

MyFirendis410 got a 100lb a couple of days before in the same field. He used his 300WM and 125gn Barnes bullet. Here's his boar:

There's hay in every field on the cantonment. The fields on Richmond are fallow; no beans yet. The cool thing (for us pig hunters) is it rained on the four fields they cut before they could bale it and get it out, so it's probably going to go off on them. Great stuff for pigs; they think it's candy. Man, we've been seeing the hogs all over! Lots of mommas too. I wouldn't have shot this one, but I did have a hole in the fridge and I wanted to shoot that 130 tsx (at 3,600 fps!) at a hog to see what it would do. Unfortunately, my only shot was in the head at thirty yards. Oops. I still want to whack one with the bow, but at least my trigger finger isn't itchy anymore.

Here's mine: Rich will have to post for him 'cause I was doing relationship management.

We heard that there were hogs in this field, but nobody could connect with them. One guy shot at THREE DIFFERENT HOGS! with no success. So, despite this miserable wind, we three decided to work the field. I climbed up on the side of a hill overlooking the field while Richracer went in and posted up along the edge. Steve took my truck over to the other side to look in on my blind side. No sooner did I sit down than pigs popped out. Something like ten or twelve. I got Steve oriented back toward me and he came down and took my place on the hill. (You have to understand: he's very picky and only shoots big, large cutter boars) I went in and met up with Rich. We had pigs upwind and crosswind. Rich decided to work one big boy and I headed upwind to hit a particularly horny dude about 100 yards away. (I'd see his head and shoulders periodically as he was trying to mount two different sows). I walked right up to 'em: like 25 yards. The boar was pushing this one sow and he pushed her head over so that she spotted me. She stopped, the boar stepped a half step in front of her and I screwed a 130 grain tipped TSX into his ear at around 3,600 fps. Whoa! It made his head kinda crunchy. Pigs were running in every direction. Steve, who is on the hill, can't see the boar I'm shooting, but can see me. It's 8 pm and my 300 win mag has a muzzle brake on it. He said it lit the field like a strobe light. Very cool.
