We saw this dude night before last but ran out of time trying to get on him. My hunting partner (Hi Steve!) spotted him from about a mile and a half off and we hustled in there to try to get on him. Turns out the wind was really bad for the way we had to come in and he might have winded us. Last night we decided to get into the same area a bit earlier and try to catch him coming up out of the canyon (we thought). Got over there and Steve headed down the ridge a bit to glass. I stayed up high and glassed the top of the next canyon. Out of boredom I looked up on the grassy side of the steep hill above us and here he comes like we had a string attached to him! I got Steve's attention and he hustled up to me, we ranged him and got set. I waited until he was close enough to determine he wasn't a Momma pig with babies and gave him a 200 gr. TSX out of my Remington 700 at about 180 yards. Lights out! Nice big hairy boar! Guessing about 140-150 gutted. Unfortunately the truck is a half mile away. We did get him back to the truck by 8:00 p.m. and were headed home. What a fun hunt! Thanks again for all the help, Steve! Man we've seen hogs this year!
