Is this military base open to the public for hunting?[/b]

Active duty, retired miltary and DOD employee's only. I do beleive you may be signed in as a guest, but I've only heard that. I haven't asked a game warden on the base.

WELL IM THINKIN THAT IM THE WORST HUNTER INTHE WORLD. 2 MORE DAYS OF HUNTING AND ALL I HAVE TO SHOW IS SOME QUAIL. NOT ONE PIG. I HEARD OF SOME GUYS GETTING SOME BUT I STILL CAME HOME EMPTY HANDED. EXEPT FOR SOME QUAIL. BUT IM GOING AGAIN NEXT WEEKEND SO EVENTUALLY ILL JUST CATCH THE BLIND ONE DOING CIRCLES IN THE FEILD. BUT ANY INFO FROM YA ALL WOULD BE GREAT.

Don't feel bad. I never got one there either. I've seen alot of them in the distance. One early morning, me and a buddy drove up to A-frame in area 3. We were glassing the valley for a couple minutes and nursing a cup of coffee. Our guns were still in the truck because we just arrived and was getting a plan on who was going where. I turned around and there on the road about 50 yards from us stood a big ol boar. By the time I grabbed my gun out of the truck, he was gone. There was definitely a lesson learned that morning.

I've had the same experience...sat in a LOT of rain this weekend. Tons of sign in 3/4 but no chances at all. Scared a few up busting brush in 4 but saw them for about 1.5 seconds before they bugged out over the next hill. Tried 6 but just couldn't do the hills with the mud, etc.

Seems like the pigs are moving almost exclusively at night. They ARE there though...not much to do but keep at it. Too bad coyotes are off limits...had a lot of chances with those.

outdoorsman4life,
you're in good areas and I am sure you'll score soon if you keep hunting the way you are. Theres a lot of water up there right now so the pigs probably wont be concentrated in one area more than another. My best advice would be to cover a lot of ground and be somewhere up top where you can see a lot of country at daybreak, the more the better. My favorite time of the year to hunt there is early summer after things have dried up a bit but its not to hot.

good luck,
