Does anyone prefer one to the other? I havent been to either. But they play the same video of some Lt hunting elk at FHL over and over and over on the Camp Pen channel. Looks like a real nice place. Vandenburg is closer for me. But if there is a better chance of getting a hog at FHL its worth the extra drive for me.

From all accounts I've read, your odds seem better at V'berg... possibly because it is service folks only. It's still gonna be "hunting" either way, and I know there are some folks who know FHL inside and out who generally come away with hogs and deer when they go.

Bottom line... hunt both! Otherwise, I'd start with Vandenberg.

Although I have been to neither place, there have been some really great posts here in the past about Vandenberg and pigs. It is definetely one place that is on my list to hunt before I die.

Anyway, just do a search and you can get some really great info about the pigs there and where on the base they are found. Good luck.

Mr. Misser is right on here. Personally, I have not been able to hunt Vandenberg as I'm not military, but hunted FHL many times. If you are military start with Vandenberg as there would be much less competition, then do FHL as it seems to have a good hunter success rate.

Wow, thanks for all the info. I put in for a civilian and military elk tag at FHL. So if I happen to get drawn Ill have to go up there and scout it any way. I might hit Vandenburg up for some hog hunting soon though.
