I believe that a total of five hogs were taken on Vandenberg over the weekend: we shot a 154 pounder on Wednesday night, three hogs in the 70-80 lb class were taken--one by Rampage, and a 202 lb boar was shot in area 4 on Monday--I didn't see it, but I was told it was a nasty old timer with wore down tusks--definitely a shooter. We saw hogs every night and my hunting partner got a couple of visitors on hogs Sunday morning, unfortunately their shooting was a bit to be desired. Lots of people on the base. I understand Area 3 was crazy.

I'm not being critical; I have had my fair share of misses over the years. I would just put it down to buck fever (hog fever). They seemed like good guys and I wouldn't mind hunting with them again. You know, if you've never missed, you haven't hunted enough. They had fun and I think we'll see them back here again.
Yeah it was packed out there that weekend. I was able to get away from the road hunters though and still saw some pigs. One group of young boars that I passed on, and a nice dry sow that I ended up shooting (YUM!). I also heard about the 200 pounder shot but didn't see it.
Rampage: It was good to put a face to a member here and I enjoyed chatting with you when you were out. Look me up when you are back up this way. Good shooting.
