I was trying to find someone to make a 3 day Ventana Wilderness trip late september or early october. If anyone's interested just email me...

I'll be going for hogs...I've got a spot picked out that's only a day's walk from the nearest road.

Ha, unfortunately I'll be the new kid on the block too. It'll be my first time in there so it'll be mainly a scouting mission, hopefully ill see something.

Today I went out with my bow and saw a herd of about 10 pigs all over 100lbs. I was taking 2 kids that just graduated from San Luis High or something. First one came out 15 yrds away feeding. I motioned for them to shtu the hell up but they never heard and spooked it. I was pretty pissed. So I told them to sit down and kept going. I ran into the herd, but they were across a small drain about 65yrds away and out of range. The kids didnt listen to me and tried to follow me down spooking the pigs before I could put a stalk on them.

It was downright frustrating. Also, the other day we were bass fishing. We hike along this river that's flooded with pigs. Caught a nice 3lber. We stalked 8 good sized hogs, a few over 100lbs and got to within 40yrds from them. We had no weapons and tried to catch them. I was gaining on a small one about 50lbs for a while through a horse pasture I got about 10 yards from it, but the pigs endurance is probably about 3000x mine and it got away.

These two stories were both in Kauai by the way and not in California.

I was planning on going out probably late october, early november...maybe even early october. I still need to pick out a rifle over there and get comfortable with it. Then I'm charging it for a night or two.

Count me in. I'm up for the November trip. I might even plan for an August trip to Arroyo Seco.
