Just some vids of my Lucille in backyard mostly working hard making a nest, very meticulous in choice if twigs and grass but also in placement of each twigs and stem. This nest building behavior of her's is VERY interesting, I never knew pigs did this until I saw Lucille start doing this about six months ago about the time she was old enough to start having babies. She usually starts building a nest a few days before she goes into heat. Yesterday she was working pretty much non stop for the whole 4 hours she was out of her pen.

Playing hide & seek with Lucy even though blind as a bat her nose always wins.

That's great. We always come across old nests in the mountains. Last summer, while doing a Miconia hunt with KISC in the Wailua area of Kauai, I came across a freshly demolished area and then heard a piglet squeeling and grunting and finally pinpointed it right at me feet coming from one of these nests. So I called out to my frineds to watch this and I stood right on top of it and a sow, only about 80 pounds shuffled around under my weight and backed out one side. She took one look at me and booked it right past one of my coworkers who was around the next bend. Then I caught a small piglet, I'm not sure if that was the only one but it's the only one I saw. I let it go afterwords. Cool stuff.

Wow, very cool. I shot a boar a number of years ago in his bed and it was actually built up like a nest.

Hunted in Paso Robles last year and my son and I watched a wild pregnant sow along with another female with piglets doing some serious nest building. It was interesting that the one with babies was grabbing mouthfuls of grass and walking to her friends nesting site. Every step of the way the little ones were right on her butt. It was fun watching a female build a nest but getting to watch "helpful" behavior by another female I doubt we will ever see that again.

Uncle Ji, years and years ago. My father had a pair of pot belly's and they would always build a nest before the female gave birth. Was really cool to watch... Kind of like your videos...thanks for sharing...
