On the same safari/scouting trip, I took this average Waterbuck. Nice heavy horns but covered with ticks! Using my usual routine I managed to come away with zero insect bites. I guess they don't like me

What area are you hunting? I love the spiral horns, but trophy fees have been rising on Nyala and Waterbuck in most of RSA.

Yeah, I really like the spiral horned ones too!I hunted on the northern end out of Ellisras in RSA and also down in the Freestate for black springbuck, black wildebeest and birds, etc. Can't wait to go back....And, yes prices have gone up considerably.

Thanks allot just what I need another animal to add to my "one of these days" list. At this rate I'll have to live to be 150 to have a chance at all of them. Great looking animal thanks for sharing.

Thanks Gomer. That's a real nice Axis in your ID. I'm assuming Texas. I hope to take one in November of this year. Been around them but haven't taken on yet. They are, in my opinion, the best venison going. Would like to read your hunt report if you posted one?? Good hunting, GGS
