Here it is,
Got a 250 lb cow sat. morning 10-12-02. Day started at 4:00 am Mountain time, and the kill was at 11:00 am. We heard a bull below us (Treeclimber and my self), so he called and went back up the ridge to cut the bull off. He was after a bull so I was not going to shoot anything at this time. One bull on one side of the ridge, then another on the other side of it. TWO bulls calling out and I am waiting to here a shot from up the ridge.I here Treeclimber call a little then I here one bull then the other. MAN this is great! So I kick back and wait. Then I look down the ridge and see a butt, OH MAN ,ELK!!! Four or five cows. Eighty yards or so. One walks off this way ,the other off that, and the last one just lays down looking right up the ridge at me. I am sitting flat on my butt up next to a log so I swing my left leg over the log to prop on,and pull up the gun. Crank it to 12 power, put it on her nose and watch her for about five mins. I can`t shoot because he is after the bull. Then a limb breaks behind me and I turn to see Treeclimber walking to me. I tell him stop and tell him what is going on. Look back down at her and she stands up.I look back at him and say "I`ve got five seconds and she is gone, can I take her?" He said "If you want her, go ahead!" I spun my head around and got on the gun and , BOOOOOOOMM! She stumbled twenty yards, and fell ten, and that was that. Backpack time. We saw alot of other animules and had fun the rest of the time. Just wish he could have gotten one too, but we got meat and that was good enough, thanks to Treeclimber!
