Please post your pictures for this week's Weekly Challenge, which is ANIMALS! Any kind of animal. Wild, domestic, pretty, ugly, we don't care. Just show us your shots

Please post your camera information, species and general location. That way we can use this to learn from as well.

Thanks,

Eric A. Mayer

Pictures from Yellowstone were taken with an Olympus C-700 Ultra Zoom 2.0 megapixel camera.

Turkey pics were taken with an Olympus D-370 1.3 megapixel camera in PA.

Animals.....Good topic. I have alot of pics I will share a few if it's ok.

Here is a central CA bear my bro and I called in last year while deer hunting. We got him to come to about 15-20 feet from us, it was pretty exciting.

Here's a picture of a central CA fawn. We were scouting a couple weeks ago and saw this little guy laying in the middle of the road so we picked him up and set him in the woods.

This was taken week before last. This cow and calf walked right past the house and shop, here they are walking over an area where we had just recently cleared the trees and graded it. I ran in the house and grabbed my camera, ran out to the garage door and took the picture in Auto. The cow was nervous, laying her ears back and constantly looking behind her.
In Photoshop, I cropped it, increased saturation, adjusted color balance, and sharpened it.

I took this picture with a Minolta 430si with 300mm zoom. Can't remember any of the other settings. It was taken a couple of years ago. It was with two other fawns but this one was the only one that stayed to get it's picture taken. The orginal is much sharper but this scan came out grainy.

I will add a couple. Most have seen a lot of mine before though.

Jim

First is what I consider the most beautiful creature on earth. An adult whitetail doe. This was taken from stand last December. She had just moved behind me and down wind and was very close to bolting. I took this w/o a rest, so the quality is not so hot, but I love it.

This one is very similar to BuckSnort's, but it includes a boot for scale. He was a tiny little fellow. His mom was watching us as we took the photo. We left him there, and the two of them ran off a few minutes later.

This photo won the cutest pet photo contest at the Jackson County Humane Society Pet Fair. Either there weren't very many entries or I stuffed the ballot box. I'll let you choose.

Stupendous, every one of them! The toads are cool. Gotta laugh at the turkeys. Heck, I love them all - good job you all!

This muley let me take pictures of him on several occasions - after the hunting season was over.

I took this picture a couple weeks ago. It's a red-spotted newt. They are an interesting creature. They have 2 different adult stages. The larvae are aquatic and live in the water for several months. Then they turn orange (or red) and become totally land-dwelling and are called red efts. They stay on land for several years, hibernating in the winter under leaves. Then they turn dark green w/ spots and return permanently to the water and grow a swimming tail. This is one of the adults in its final stage.
