i've been exercising..i have been shooting. saturday, i was putting in 3" groups at 40 yards. just need to make sure my broadheads are still flying great..my rinehart 18-1 is not safe to shoot at anymore :(

i got a new friend going with me from california..helps me drive, split gas money, etc. my brother will be driving SOLO from texas, towing a badass popup trailer with his duramax.

ordered a new bugle. should get here in a few days so i can practice and annoy the heck out of my wife, cats, and dog. (and neighbors).

gear? it's my wild card. i am going to order trekking poles. pistol..can i carry in IDAHO? if so, i will need a holster. i having spending cash ready..

opps..i need to buy my tags this week. i've called the IDAHO f&g lady a myriad of times. she is cool!!

Good luck up here in Idaho, what area are you hunting? Yes it is legal to carry while bowhunting, so get that holster. I have heard that in areas with wolves the bulls aren't very vocal so be prepared for that. Also buy a wolf tag or two and help thin down the population. You can get F&G online and see the areas that the wolves are living in and base your hunts on that. What I have seen is smaller bunches of elk instead of large herds.

The only bad thing about hunting Idaho (and Colorado) is that they are both such a long way from California. Otherwise it's a hunting and fishing paradise out there.

It's a long drive out there, and a long drive back. Tried it once. Now I stay closer to home.

But if you want elk then you have to go out of state. That much is true.

Your groups are really good, which means the only thing you need to do is a good stalk, or good calling.

More to practice.

Congrats on getting your tags.....just don't forget them.... been there done that and had to have them overnight-ed to a friends house in Utah. That was the last time I was packed and ready to go 3 weeks in advance, now the tags go in/on the rifle case or the range box that I take with me. With a note in my wallet telling me where they are.
