So I picked up the most recent READER and on the front cover is a pic of a pig. Inside it contains a 5 or 6 page article about the pigs in the CNF in the SD area. Not sure I like all of these articles being published:hog chewing:

That cat has had a several litters already! I'm just glad I'm not that wrapped up in pig hunting! I will say, I have noticed a big increase in "scouters" though! :(

Whenever I am scouting in the SD area I always run into at least 2 hunters from somewhere north or east that are out looking for the "massive" herds of pigs running amock in SD county. I immediately tell them that they are in the completely wrong area and that the need to go to Imperial county because that is surely where all of the wild pigs live!!! these articles need to disappear!

I agree. The only good thing about that article is the description of the way they drove in is by far the hardest way into that area. If the average Joe drove in the way described in the article, I think they would be overwhelmed by the initial rolling hills and would probably turn around, and hopefully never come back. Or at least thats my hope. Bottom line, if any serious hunter in SD county sees or kills a pig, I can guarantee it wont be in the paper. I know I would keep it to myself.

It just is not smart if you ask me. Last time I went out for pigs was just after the DFG put out the maps with the pig activity noted on it. At that time I ran into 6 guys who drove down from LA looking for once again the "so called" massive pig population. I broke the sad news to them and they left. I think the area needs to be preserved and kept quiet.

I have never seen any pigs in SD co. They must be in only a small area.

Hunting in San Diego County will be ban completely if section SDNOHUNT619 pass through the county courthouse. All hunters please vote NO on this. The more hunters we have the better we are at winning this vote. So if you are a hunter, we need you.

An article in Western Outdoor News pin pointed GPS coordinates in the CNF in San Diego County that several big herds of pig were sighted. It reported that some hunters hunting the area have seen or shot pigs. The article did not need to describe pig hunting in San Diego County. Now the area will be crawling with hunters. There are no pig in San Diego County. Hunters need to go hunt pig somewhere else.

HOW ARE WE GOING TO STICK TOGETHER TO WIN THE VOTE WHEN WE ARE GIVING EACH OTHER THE FINGER OVER HUNTING GROUNDS?

I don't know how often any of you hunt SD county but ever since these news articles started appearing, I started noticing a large increase in "city slickers" crashing through the bushes at 5 am in the morning scaring every living animal in ear shot away. All in search of the ever elusive San Diego boar. Thats all I'm saying. Take it how you want.

I totally agree. I have seen more and more people out there. someone needs to write an article about the absence of pigs in sd not the presence of 400+ pigs

Folks just don't understand! 300-400 pigs is spread over hundreds of square miles. If you think your gonna pop outta your car, pick one out of the herd and shoot it..... why, that's just crazy talk!

I don't understand Gents...what's the difference of people driving down to San Diego looking for hogs opposed to Southern California boys coming up here to the central valley or nothern cali looking for Hogs. I think a lot of us country boys out here probably feel the same way you guys do about people hunting down in San Diego area. If you ask me...sounds a bit selfish. :stir pot: Just gotta deal with it and keep hunting. Just become a better hunter than them!

Relax people! It don't matter how many guys hunt the area. If the habitat is right, the hog population will explode. For every 1 that people have seen, there are 20 more they didn't. These animals are exponential multipliers. Give it time.......You'll see.........A couple years ago you had none. Now you have 400. Wait a few more years and the number will be ?????

I'm pretty sure what I was trying to convey just got completely misunderstood. I am absolutely all for everyone being able to hunt. I have absolutely no problem sharing the public land that I just happen to hunt on with anyone. This brings up the problem of etiquette. In my opinion, if you are going to hunt a new area away from your home, scout it out and learn where you are going to hunt and how to get there in the early hours. Just because someone completed a hunter safety class does not mean that they are a "hunter." As I previously stated since this influx of stories has hit the California media, me and my brother in law(aka my partner in crime) have had numerour run ins with people carrying on loud conversations, laughing, crashing through bushes, using the brightest flashlights known to man, and flat out walking up to us and saying, "hey! what are you guys doing out here? Mind if we set up 50 feet over here?" All because they seen an article somewhere about SD county being overrun by pigs, eating people alive, the national guard being called in.... then buying a map, finding a road in the middle of nowhere, and then crashing through the woods at 0500 in the morning. When I hunt central California, I always pick a spot, find a route to get there quietly as possible, and if I do encounter someone who is already set up in a particular area, I scrap all plans and go somewhere completely different. Just out of respect for fellow hunters. Just my two cents.

Mike I hear ya, but its something we have to deal with living in southern cali where hunting spots are limited. I have never hunting SD county but while up at FHL I had a couple guys shooting around and yelling while my dad and I where waiting for pigs. I didnt see anything in their hands or bags so I dont know what they where shooting at. We just got up and left.

Sounds like public land hunting all over the West for all sorts of game animals.

I'll live vicariously through these posts for say....2-3 more years before I'll start roaming around CNF. Just not enough hogs to make it worthwhile....yet. Easier places to find hogs then SD County.

One of the popular questions I got at the JHO booth at Bass Pro the past weekend was.....

wait for it.......

Where are the San Diego hogs? :lol bashing sign: They were standing 20 deep waiting on my answer I tell ya. I could sell GPS coordinates on a map by god. It's an outta control, foaming at the mouth frenzy.
