Went trapping - for hawks...

I went out with a falconer trapping for redtails a week or two ago. It was a pretty calm day out, never did see any redtails. We needed a more of a NW breeze so the hawks could soar in the thermals. But we did have a Goss hawk come in from behind us and smack the pigeon. Caught me by surprise so I never did get any pics of him when he was in mid air ( which is what I was hoping for.)When he got the the pigeon reeled down to the hoop net , he pulled the wrong cord to trip the net – never did get to actually catch it and band it but I got a nice pic none the less. The hawks are migrating pretty good now – I will be going back out again with him and hope to get some good action shots of some redtails.
