Hey fellas, here's a few pictures of the animals we took in the Gospel Hump Wilderness area of central Idaho. The 3 of us all had an elk and a deer tag and we ended up with 2 elk and 3 deer, unfortunately I didn't get an opportunity on an elk, but I did shoot a nice muley, so I was happy about that. One of my buddies shot a real nice symmetrical 5x5 elk and a small spike muley and my other buddy shot a heavy antlered non-typical 6x5 elk with a cheater off his 5th point on his 6 side, and one of his brow tines was just a 2 inch stub with a couple small knubs off of it, and he also shot a 19 inch 4x4 muley. My muley was a 23 inch wide by 18 1/2 tall 4x3 that dressed out around 210. Right now I only have pictures of the 5x5 and my buck, so here they are, I will post pictures of the 6x5 as soon as I finish the roll and get them developed.

That's a nice bull! Congratulations. How long were you all out hunting? I'm going for elk in Idaho myself next year, up near the panhandle.

Thanks Mrozman, to answer your question we were in there for 10 days, but only hunted 6 of the days due to transporting game from site of kill to spike camp and then eventually to base camp.

and thanks to you too Or186, we didn't see a single whitetail deer while hunting, I heard that the whitetails in the area spend most of their time up high in the timber, the highest we got was around 5,200 feet and there were a few mountain peaks over 8000 feet so maybe we weren't high enough for them, however we did see a small spike whitetail in the road in front of us on the way back to Riggins.

Here is the picture of my muley....

a couple pics from base camp looking up from the Salmon River, we killed the 6x5 on the ridge to the left, about a mile and a half beyond the top of the ridge you can see in this picture.

Kevin:

Congrats on a successful trip. That's a beautiful buck, and a great picture. That is some crazy steep country. I'd imagine hauling meat around those parts was a serious back breaker.

We took this shot just before we got back to spike camp, I couldn't wait to get that packframe off my back, packing out the hindquarters about keeled me over.

Here is a shot of a Bighorn Sheep we ran into on the way up to spike camp, we got within about 50 yards of him, I couldn't believe how beautiful and muscular he was, I guess we should of put in for the sheep draw, would of been the easiest pack of them all, we we're only about 500 yards up the hill from base camp. We also saw a Grizzly, we spotted him with the binocs feeding up a hillside about a half a mile away, then we got out the spotting scope and could clearly see the telltale hump behind his head, from then on we found ourselves watching our backsides very frequently.

Thanks Hunt Hard, and yes it was public land, it's called the Gospel Hump Wilderness area and it is also part of the Nez Perce National Forest.
