Here is my part of the story: I left Fresno 2:00am early morning of Thursday Dec.17. Meet up with XDHunter & Live2Hunt in Las Vegas about 8:00am. After some short BS we hit I-15 north to I-70 east heading to New Castle, Colorado. To make the long trip short we arrived at destination about 6:00pm Colorado time. Next day Friday, we hooked up with our Colorado Host, then headed to store where we bought our over the counter elk tag. From there we went staright to the ranch. (It was Friday NOT Saturday the first day of the hunt, correction to L2h) After driving few minutes we saw a herd of Elk bedded down. They were so numerous, they look like fleas from a distance. We drove closer, me & XdHunter tried to stalked the herd. When we get closer, I fired the first shot. But for some DAMN reason I missed with my 300WSM SUB-MOA Weatherby. The Elks bunch in one big group and ready to run. We back off and I decided to switch with my back-up rifle, a 7mm Browning ABolt w/ BOSS. Then our Colorado host drove us to another herd of about 200 or more Elk. Me & XdHunter got out of the truck and I aim at the one that is standing broad side away from the rest of the herd. BANG Elk dropped down like a dead log. After skinning & butchering, poor Elk was hit with 180 gns. TSX Bullet (factory load) went thru the front right leg, cut the heart in half and pulverized the front left leg (bone). That was a perfect clean shot. Very minimal damage on the meat. Thanks to my Browning A-Bolt it save the day. See some picture...
